We went back to school this week with company photographer Christian Pizzirani! He did an A-plus job capturing our "Eureka Day" cast, tiny chairs and all. Directed by Lisa Mallette, this Tony-winning comedy takes us inside a super-progressive Berkeley school where it's all about inclusion and social justice. And then the mumps.

We are sad to report that tonight's (Friday, August 28) show of "Ride the Cyclone" is cancelled due to illness in the cast. Our understudies have been filling in beautifully at recent performances, but strep throat has really done a number on our actors' voices. We are contacting everyone who has tickets for tonight, and hope to return on Saturday night.

Here’s your first behind-the-scenes look at our next comedy, Eureka Day! 🍎

We recently got the cast together for their first photoshoot with our brilliant company photographer Christian Pizzirani, and naturally, we brought you behind the camera to see some of the magic happen. 📸

Set at a progressive private school in Berkeley, Eureka Day follows a group of well-intentioned parents and educators who pride themselves on inclusivity and consensus. But when a mumps outbreak hits the school, suddenly agreeing on what’s best for the community becomes a whole lot more complicated. 😬

Funny, timely and VERY Bay Area, Eureka Day kicks off City Lights’ 45th season!

After all the laughs, tears, songs and unforgettable moments, our journey aboard Ride the Cyclone is coming to an end. ❤️

There are only a few chances left to experience the show audiences have been riding with us all summer — so if you’ve been waiting to join the choir, this is your last chance!

When a performance sells out, we start a waiting list at the door 30 minutes before curtain. At 5 minutes to curtain, we will sell any unclaimed tickets to the list.

Round of applause for our "Ride the Cyclone" understudies! In a fast-paced, complex show like this, it’s not just the actors on stage who have to be on their toes. The understudies have to be prepared for anything.

Live theater is beautifully unpredictable, and with that comes risk. No matter how much we rehearse, some things are out of our control … like when an actor wakes up with no voice.

During "Ride the Cyclone," we’ve already had a few times where understudies have needed to step in. They’ve taken the stage with skill, generosity and remarkable adaptability. Milovan Bogdanic has filled in as Noel, and Noah Lerner has gone on as both Virgil and Ricky! Also standing at the ready: Lauren Berling, Kaylie Moniz, and Andrew Mo.

As the show continues through Aug. 30, we’re grateful for our fantastic artists, who keep it all spinning around with grace. -Lisa
