Son Jarocho is a music and dance style typical to Southern Veracruz. A mixture of cultures and rhythms, it contains African, Spanish and Indigenous roots. The structure of this genre is mainly of call and response and its poetic verses speak of nature, love, and struggle.

Son Las Fridas is a group of women who pay tribute to Frida Kahlo - her life, passion & pain - via the Son Jarocho style of verse and improvisation.

Son Jarocho is a regional style of music and dance from the Southern area of Veracruz, Mexico. This beautiful and infectious style of music is a mix of influences from three cultures: indigenous; Spanish; and African.

Luna, Sol y Cielo came about after a group of local women consisting of educators and performing artists came together to share their passion for Son Jarocho. The impetus of coming together was one of empowerment and forming bonds. The mission of Luna, Sol y Cielo is to share Son Jarocho with the community via performances and educational workshops. The founders of Luna, Sol y Cielo are Claudia Arredondo and Jessica Torres. Claudia has been an educator for twelve years in state of California and has played and studied Son Jarocho for over six years. Jessica has been a professional Mexican folklorico dancer for over 25 years. She has taught dance and movement to local youth as an Artist-in-Residence, and has studied Son Jarocho since 2008.
