Long before blockbusters, Oscars and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Will Smith was a teenage rapper in Philadelphia trying to get a record deal with a DJ named Jeff Townes. That chapter is now becoming the basis for a new screen project called 215.

The scripted project is being developed by Smith’s Westbrook Studios together with The Malar Group and is expected to span both film and television. Rather than functioning as a conventional biopic, 215 will fictionalize the beginnings of DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince through two teenagers chasing a music career and the circle of friends around them.

Its title is a direct nod to Philadelphia’s 215 area code, placing the city at the center of the story rather than treating it simply as the place Smith happened to come from.

The series will follow the young rapper and DJ as they try to break into the record business during Philadelphia’s expanding hip-hop scene, then deal with the much stranger problem of suddenly becoming famous.

Drake has reportedly submitted none of his three 2026 albums — Iceman, Habibti or Maid of Honour — for consideration at the 2027 Grammy Awards. Not a single song from the projects was entered either.

It’s a remarkable absence considering how enormous the records were. Released simultaneously on May 15, the three albums immediately occupied the top three positions of the Billboard 200: Iceman at No. 1, Habibti at No. 2 and Maid of Honour at No. 3. No artist had previously managed that feat in the chart’s weekly history. Iceman alone opened with 463,000 equivalent album units, giving Drake his 15th US No. 1 album.

And apparently, the Grammys snub wasn’t exactly a secret. On Iceman closer “Make Them Know,” Drake had already signaled that he wouldn’t be submitting the album. The decision fits a relationship with the Recording Academy that has been tense for years.

Drake has won five Grammys from 56 nominations, but he has repeatedly chosen to remove himself from the competition. He withdrew his nominations for Certified Lover Boy ahead of the 2022 ceremony, skipped submissions for Honestly, Nevermind and its singles the following year, and also left For All the Dogs out despite its eligibility for the 2025 awards.

Shakira’s Madrid residency delivered its biggest surprise yet on October 3, when Dua Lipa appeared on stage for an acoustic duet of “Antología,” the 1995 fan favorite from Pies Descalzos. It marked the first time the two pop stars had performed together live.

The choice of song wasn’t random.

Last November, during the Bogotá stop of her Radical Optimism tour, Lipa performed “Antología” as her local cover — part of a tradition that saw her reinterpret songs connected to each city she visited. Shakira noticed immediately, sharing the performance online and saying she was moved to hear one of her songs sung by Dua in the same city where she had written it decades earlier.

Less than a year later, the tribute turned into a duet.

A rare copy of Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love” has surfaced more than half a century after the band’s management reportedly ordered the pressing recalled and destroyed. Even better: its owner got it for free — and spent years using it to clear dancefloors.

Some records become valuable because they sold millions. Others become valuable because they were barely allowed to exist.

A remarkably rare seven-inch pressing of Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love” has appeared on the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow, where expert Marc Allum told its owner that the record effectively “shouldn’t” be in Britain at all.

The record surfaced during an episode filmed at Caerphilly Castle in Wales. Its owner explained that he picked it up in the early 1970s while searching for records to launch a disco. Someone at a record shop simply pulled a couple of discs from a bag and told him he could have them.

David Guetta has done it again. Fifteen years after first reaching No. 1, the French superstar has topped DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs poll for the sixth time — more than anyone else in the ranking’s history.

At this point, David Guetta winning DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs almost feels like its own recurring season.

The French DJ and producer has been named The World’s No. 1 DJ for 2026, taking the title for an unprecedented sixth time. His previous victories came in 2011, 2020, 2021, 2023 and 2025.

And this one comes with a record.

Until now, Guetta had been tied with Martin Garrix and Armin van Buuren, who have each won the poll five times. His latest victory puts him alone at the top as the most successful artist in the history of DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs.

Roxy Music have opened another door into their early ’70s archive, sharing a previously unreleased demo of “Pyjamarama” ahead of the expanded reissue of their second album, For Your Pleasure.

Titled “Pyjamarama – guitar & vocal,” the recording is believed to be the earliest surviving version of the song. It strips away the glossy art-rock machinery associated with Roxy Music and leaves almost nothing behind except Ferry’s voice and acoustic guitar.

There is another reason the tape matters: according to Ferry, this was the first song he had ever written on guitar.

The demo was recorded during a short retreat in the Derbyshire Dales, where Ferry isolated himself for several days while Roxy Music were caught up in an increasingly hectic touring schedule. He brought keyboards, recording equipment, writing materials and a guitar with him, using the time away to concentrate on material for what would become For Your Pleasure.

The world’s new No.1 DJ is about to be announced in a nightclub rather than on a webpage.

DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs LIVE returns to [UNVRS] Ibiza on Tuesday, October 6, bringing the awards to the island for the second consecutive year. The show begins at 23:30 and combines the ranking reveal with a full club night built around some of electronic music’s biggest names.

The lineup includes Lost Frequencies, Charlotte de Witte, Korolova and ANASTAZJA, while GORDO and Vintage Culture are billed for a B2B set. Then comes the evening’s main reveal: DJ Mag will announce the World’s No.1 DJ, and the winner will immediately play a special set inside [UNVRS].

The ceremony will go considerably deeper than the overall Top 100. DJ Mag will also recognise the World’s No.1 Trance DJ, Techno DJ, House DJ, Hard DJ and DJ Group, alongside awards including Highest New Entry, Highest Climber, Future Star and Outstanding Contribution.

Robbie Williams is back in Argentina for the first time in two decades — and apparently couldn’t wait until showtime. With a few dozen fans gathered outside his Buenos Aires hotel, he grabbed a guitarist, walked onto the street and gave them their own private warm-up gig.

Sometimes the best concert is the one nobody bought a ticket for.

On September 29, Robbie Williams stepped outside the Faena Hotel in Buenos Aires’ Puerto Madero neighbourhood after spotting a small group of fans waiting for him. What began as a quick meet-and-greet soon became something considerably better: an impromptu acoustic show on the pavement.

Around 30 to 40 fans had gathered outside the hotel. Williams chatted with them, posed for photos and even made a video call to his wife and son to show them the reception he was getting in Argentina. Then he returned with his guitarist and started playing.

Norman Cook may be one of Glastonbury’s most familiar faces, but apparently he has never treated Worthy Farm like a normal gig.

The DJ says he has never been paid to perform at the festival, despite appearing there an estimated 100 times across his career. The deal, as he describes it, is considerably less corporate: Michael and Emily Eavis give him tickets, and in return he is free to pop up behind the decks — sometimes on official stages, sometimes in much stranger corners of the site.

It is less an employment arrangement than a very long-running friendship.

Cook first played Glastonbury back in 1986, when he was still bassist in The Housemartins and appeared on the Pyramid Stage under his real name. After reinventing himself as Fatboy Slim in the 1990s, he became one of the festival’s most persistent residents, often playing several sets during the same weekend. In 2025 he even marked what was billed as his 100th Glastonbury appearance, although Cook himself admits the number is an educated guess because many of those sets were never officially documented.

Backstreet’s back. And Germany never really stopped waiting.

The Backstreet Boys have sold more than 450,000 tickets for their Into the Millennium – Homecoming: Live in Germany residency at Düsseldorf’s Merkur Spiel-Arena. The ten-show run began on September 25 and continues through October 7, with the concerts serving as the group’s only European performances of 2026.

Calling Germany a random stop on the nostalgia circuit would miss the point entirely.

Long before the Backstreet Boys became stadium-sized pop stars in America, Germany was one of the places where everything started to work. The group recorded music there, played smaller venues, picked up crucial early radio support and built an audience across Europe. Germany also gave them their first platinum record with “I’ll Never Break Your Heart.”
