The paper crane……nostalgic, simple, yet powerful.
I often get asked why I chose to name the shop Thousand Cranes. The answer is simple, yet complex. I originally wanted to name it Paper Cranes, but the name was already taken, so it was back to the drawing board.
My wife asked me why I wanted to use paper cranes, and I told her it was to represent the act of folding a thousand paper cranes to make a wish. She suggested Thousand Cranes, and I instantly fell in love with it.
A crane represents longevity. As a business owner, the greatest hope I can have is a long, successful career. A paper crane represents hope, the hope that a wish is granted to the person who folds a thousand. My wish was to create a space where my creativity feels nurtured, not caged.
