Here we are… 2 years since these pieces have been all together and seen by anyone. September 2024 I was turning 26 and it was a dream come true to be showing my first gallery series at Mesquite for First Friday. Now I’m turning 28 this month and it’s still a dream come true to be showing this collection again. This gallery show is a full embodiment of my professional artist journey, including insights and sketchbook showings. “Childhood Joy” is the exact feeling I hope my work brings to life. It would mean the world to me for everyone to come out to the opening night tomorrow evening, 7-9pm @ the firehouse gallery.

I’ve been going through something…

I’ve been depressed and isolating. I felt ashamed to be sad and struggling in a time of my life that I objectively have nothing to be sad about. I don’t know where I’d like to go with my art right now and that’s ok. I am reconnecting with my sense of self by art journaling my life. Here’s your tiny window into my soul and struggles.

Showing this piece some love 🧡

So 🧡🧡🧡 this is a sketch I did in one of my abandoned, unfinished sketchbooks. It’s actually the biggest sketchbook that I’ve ever owned (probably like a 12”x18”). This drawing came about for a few reasons and had so many layered emotions/meanings hidden within all the little details. A lot of the sentiment comes from the joy, nostalgia and comfort we find in temporary things. Or sometimes it’s in a temporary moment. A temporary interest. How they become apart of our story.
While drawing this I was going back through my photos and my old posts. I never I would’ve been able to imagine how insanely beautiful my life would become even after returning to the town that I wanted to escape so badly as an 18 year old. Now I see full circle moments almost everyday and ways my past has played a huge part in where I’m at; the good and bad. I let myself draw all these cute things that I’ve absolutely drawn a 1000 times before and even redrew some old sketches of mine.

April Recap ⭐️

My and spring go together 🌱 Huge thank you to everyone that made this month special. There were so many pictures, faces, moments, LAUGHS and beautiful spots that there was no way for me to fit it all in. I love all the connections and spaces I’m in right now in my life. I can’t believe I going to be Art Director coming into this new month. Here’s to a new month and new chapter, May it bring more adventures ✨

This is my love letter to not only the Earth but the very environment that raised me. The privilege of being able to be in this beauty everyday is something I will never take for granted. I love you Del Rio. Happy Earth Day 🌎🌱
