YES:
Exuberance? Rage? Determination? Hope?

Like other pieces in the oeuvre of Daniel Diaz-Tai, "Yes”, is a product of a recurring manipulation of texture and the use of calligraphy, gestural painting, and a restrained color palette.

But unlike other pieces that mostly rely on asemic writing - the use of forms that resemble written words but have no linguistic meaning - in "Yes”, abandons that "lexicon" in favor of a bold, unequivocal affirmation, "Yes."

Drips and lines of ink create layers and texture within the black letters that, seemingly dropped or thrown, made a sudden impact with the paper, resulting in the splatter of ink surrounding them - suggesting that the conspicuous assertion may conceal as plainly as it reveals.

While reminiscent of a typeface, the letters, however, show the qualities of their construction - fluid, gesture, and structure. The ink brush, as extension of the artist's body, here communicates an affirmation as well as a something more.

For , it's the use of calligraphic abstraction and physical energy that expresses and conveys (or, if one chooses to "read" the painting, that communicates) - while using words sparingly, or not at all.

“Beauty and the Inner Beast” is an inquiry into the archetypal feminine
energies of the psyche, where the anima (Beauty) comes together with the
shadow (Inner Beast) to form the Divine Feminine.
Considering this duality, my work is layered, with light and dark aspects
delving into themes of self-discovery that include the reclamation of
personal and collective power.
I invite viewers to reflect upon their relationship with the Divine Feminine,
encouraging them to reconnect with their intuition, embrace their inherent
creativity, and honor the profound wisdom of the psyche’s energy.

“YES’, NO’, and ‘MAYBE’ are words that we all use multiple times daily–an unknown number of times in our lifetime. These words we use so often can be mundane and said without second thought or they can carry massive weight behind them. These pieces are a part of my 'raised text' series using acrylic forms to create words and phrases to communicate, typified by 3-dimensional messages using a mélange of elevated fonts.

Dialecto Gallery is proud to present our new artist Matthew.

Frederick Matthew Frederick presents an unconventional and amusing spin on the genre of landscape painting. Inspired by his life amid Northern California’s scenic countryside, Frederick looks within the landscape to capture and exaggerate the whimsical shadows and shapes cast from surging hills, majestic oak trees and gaping valleys.
Fredericks style is characterized by the careful balance of structure, color, lighting and mood. His compositions are rendered with a resplendent color palette of generous applications of paint and undulating brushwork, lending to a compelling emulation of the patterns and sensations inherent in nature.

Introducing our gallery new artist

Lucky Rapp
is a San Francisco based visual artist with a background in both fashion and art. Her self-taught style is often characterized as being text-based. Her methodology incorporates layers of resin, paint, and acrylic forms that create texture and depth within the dialogue of her work. Lucky’s approach is process-oriented and physical. The end result combines inquisitive statements that play with both language and the potency of graphic communication, while the three-dimensional nature of the layered resin fosters a sculptural reflective quality.
