Sins Invalid reconoce que seremos liberades en nuestra totalidad como seres: discapacitades, q***r, morenes, negres, no conformes con el género, trans, mujeres, hombres, de género no binario: en totalidad somos mucho más que en parte. Reconocemos que nuestres aliades surgen de muchas comunidades y que la identidad demográfica por sí sola no determina el compromiso que tiene una persona con la liberación. Sins Invalid está comprometido con la justicia social y económica para todas las personas con discapacidades–en confinamiento, en refugios, en las calles, personas con discapacidades visibles, personas con discapacidades invisibles, minorías sensoriales, lastimades ambientalmente, sobrevivientes psiquiátricos– y nos avanzamos más allá de los derechos legales individuales, hacia los derechos humanos colectivos. Al trabajar con otras organizaciones involucradas en el movimiento de justicia de discapacidad en un esfuerzo intencional de crear más espacios de apoyo hacia nuestra supervivencia

We are so excited to announce our first program offering of 2026:

Herbal Hopecore: Plant Friendship for Sick, Disabled, and Mad People, a workshop with Cyrée Jarelle Johnson.

You ever heard an herbalist, yoga teacher, tarot reader, or other wellness expert say something to the tune of “if you’re on medication, you’re not activating your inner power for healing and wholeness blah blah blahhhhh,” and you have go like whaaaat the f**k(!) are you talking about? Why are you talking?

Yeah? Me too. So I took my Black disabled body/mind to herbalism school, continued hanging out with/being friends with plants who—like my human friends—have plenty of very cool and interesting talents. In this two hour workshop, we’ll celebrate plants, especially ones that are resilient, fragile, and magical.

We’ll discuss ways to work with herbs internally, externally, and in ways that transcend those simple binaries. Even if you’re not interested in working with herbs internally, even if you’re concerned about potential interactions with your meds (which is totally legit!) you can still come to build more intuitive and solidarity-centered connections with our plant neighbors and relations.

Este 2026 marca veinte años de Sins Invalid. Veinte años celebrando el talento y brillantez artística de las personas disca, y de construir un marco de justicia de discapacidad donde ningún cuerpomente sea excluido. Este marco, y la visión radicalmente inclusiva que representa, son más importantes ahora que nunca. Ante la violencia continua contra nuestras comunidades y allegades cuir, trans, negres, indígenas y otras personas racializadas y migrantes, seguimos avanzando con determinación, ferocidad y ​​cuidado, arraigades en nuestra sabiduría disca y en las enseñanzas de nuestres ancestres. Este es el camino de supervivencia disca que Patty Berne trazó durante casi dos décadas de dedicación amorosa a Sins Invalid.

2026 marks twenty years of Sins Invalid. Twenty years of celebrating crip brilliance and artistry, and building toward a disability justice framework where no bodymind is left behind. That framework and the radically inclusive vision it represents is more important now than ever. In the face of ongoing violence against our QTBIPOC and migrant kin and communities, we continue to move with intention, fierceness and care, grounded in our crip wisdom and in the teachings of our ancestors. This is the path of crip survival that Patty Berne laid during nearly two decades of loving stewardship of Sins Invalid.

At the end of 2020’s We Love Like Barnacles performance, Patty shared the intentions captured in this video. She asked us to imagine a world where all people are held as sacred and whole. Now, as then, that vision is deeply necessary. And as we reflect on two decades of work and honor the brilliance Patty shared, alongside the artists, organizers, and luminaries who have shaped Sins, we would love to invite you to reflect with us.
