New Conservatory Theatre Center has been providing high quality arts education since 1981. Conservatory students flourish in a fun, supportive and non-competitive atmosphere where each student is provided an opportunity to shine. Emphasis is placed on skill building through theatre games and exercises, with culminating performances punctuating the end of each class experience.

NCTC is looking for storytellers, singers, dancers, comedians, artists, big imaginations, and curious kids who just want to try something new.

Never stepped on a stage before? Perfect. No experience necessary - just come ready to create, play, and make a little DRAMA.

Calling all teen theatre kids 🎭

Fall at NCTC has options for every kind of performer - from improvisers and storytellers to musical theatre lovers and high school actors ready for a challenge.

🎭 Teen Acting Lab • Grades 6–8
No scripts, no limits! Students will turn unexpected prompts into original scenes while building characters, sharpening improv skills, and finding their own creative voice.

🎶 Teen Musical Theatre • Grades 6–8
It’s good to be bad. 😈 Students will sing, dance, and tell stories through villain songs from Broadway favorites including Mean Girls, Hamilton, and Little Shop of Horrors.

🧛 High School Acting Lab • Grades 9–12
Things are about to go hilariously wrong. Students will tackle Bad Dracula, a parody packed with rubber bats, malfunctioning costumes, bad accents, and plenty of opportunities to take creative risks.

📅 October 17-December 12

A fall filled with creativity, confidence, new friends, and just the right amount of DRAMA.

Our Conservatory Open House is a one-day chance for young performers to jump into the drama and experience what NCTC is all about.

Students will meet our Teaching Artists, connect with fellow young actors, play improv games, sing, create, and explore their imaginations in a fun, supportive environment. Whether they’re seasoned performers or stepping into a drama class for the very first time, everyone is welcome!

Through NCTC Satellite Drama, our Teaching Artists bring engaging, high-quality drama workshops directly to school and after-school sites throughout San Francisco and beyond.

Programs are designed to get students moving, imagining, creating, and working together - and can be customized to fit each school community’s needs and budget.
