Moments with Gil No. 1: Talking W/ JOE KROPSCHOT

Traveling around with Gilbert "El Nino" Melendez on the road we have our conversations that range from everything honestly. But theres also an impressive masterclass in networking. But I really enjoy when he checks in on his fighters. To his credit Gil goes extra miles and moments like these showcase it.

For the script i’m writing about Gilbert "El Nino" Melendez i’m looking at a specific window of his career. No matter what window of time it is I still have to research and look in depth at Gil’s early fight career. On paper his first pro MMA fight was at ‘WEC 5: HALLOWEEN FURY’ on October 18, 2022. Gil’s pro debut was a first round finish.

WEC stood for WORLD EXTREME CAGEFIGHTING and was a prominent American MMA promotion that specialized in lighter weight classes and was owned by UFC parent company ZUFFA.

It’s something special to see one decorated fighter speaking to another. "Mighty Mouse" Johnson is well spoken & intelligent and dug deep into Gilbert "El Nino" Melendez fight journey and got observations, philosophies, and retrospections I haven’t heard Gil touch on before in a podcast, or speaking platform for that matter. Stay tuned on when he drops this special conversation. Fight fans will get history. Fighters will get perspective.
