🎶🫶🏽 Musical sibling energy. Helado Tropical’s show was nothing but sweet and alluring. The duo’s playful chemistry charmed the audience, playing tracks from their new collaborative album, “Helado Tropical,” plus beloved songs from their respective repetoires. Watching Roberto (Helado Negro) and Fabi (Reyna Tropical) play on stage was pure joy, they are a musical pairing that seems meant to be. What a treat to experience them live and in the Gardens.

Thanks to Marigold Project for matching Helado Tropical’s whimsy with giant puppets dancing through the crowd, to Camilo y los Cruzers for an incredible opening set and to KALW DJ Wonway Posibul for setting the afternoon’s vibe.

🧑🏽‍🩰💫 This is your day to dance! YBG Dance Day brings a day of free classes to the Gardens with some of the Bay Area’s most talented dance teachers. All levels are welcome. Try a class or two, learn something new or dance with us all day.

This year, Rhythm & Motion presents a special tribute to honor the life and legacy of Rhythm & Motion founder Consuelo Faust (1953–2025) and her belief in the power of dance to bring people together in joy. Come and celebrate with us.

🪷✨ Raga and chai in the Gardens. Thank you RootStock Arts for bringing another lovely Color Your Mind festival to the Gardens. It was a lovely gathering of South Asian musicians and creatives, exploring the boundaries of classical and contemporary Indian art forms. There’s nothing like enjoying soaring ragas and a delightful cup of chai on the lawn. Many thanks to the audience, artists, vendors and sponsors who made it possible.

🍋 🌸 Una Sensación. Feeling the most amazing vibes from Helado Tropical. Helado Negro and Reyna Tropical’s intimate musical chemistry echoed throughout Gardens, making for such a delightful summer afternoon under beautiful SF skies. It’s a feeling we don’t want to let go.

🔥🇨🇺 One last Salsa Night of the season. Join us on the first Thursday of September as Los Calderones starts off the weekend early with Cuban reggaeton, timba and traditional Afro-Cuban rhythms, led by trombonist, arranger and rapper Obrayan Calderon.

Come early for a 30-minute beginner dance lesson with Rueda Con Ritmo at 5:30pm. No partner required.

🌙🐾 Wakanda comes to the Gardens. Yerba Buena Movie Night returns with “Black Panther,” directed and co-written by Oakland native Ryan Coogler. Come early for pre-show entertainment, activities, games and a picnic on the lawn, then settle in for the movie at sunset around 7:30pm.

🇧🇷🎵 Tão lindo. California Brazil Camp did it again, bringing exceptional masters of Brazilian music to the Gardens. Clarinetist Alexandre Ribeiro and guitarist Alessandro Penezzi gave a stunning performances that had us buzzing like a party in São Paulo.

🌿💃🏽 Dance went outdoors. Day 1 of YBG ChoreoFest brought stunning dance performances to unique spaces throughout the Gardens. Yeni Lucero & Dancers, Sharp & Fine, BrasArte and PUSH Dance Company inspired us all afternoon long.

Thank you to curators David Herrera, Raissa Simpson and Ashley Gayle, all the artists, and everyone who followed this dance-filled journey with us. Stay tuned for photos from Day 2!
