Please help us get .storment ‘s accounts back. Niko is a gem among the strong leaders and space makers of our SF Bay Area Trans community and I am proud to call him a dear friend and collaborator. His accounts were taken down by meta in what appears to be an effort of targeted harassment. Even the official account of Trans March SF was taken down in this wave of discriminatory silencing and deplatforming. This is beyond harmful to his ability to promote his projects and do business as our Trans community relies on apps like instagram to be able to find events and spaces that are safe for us to gather. Please take time to make a report through your account so we can attempt to get his platforms up and running again.

Created in the aftermath of a critical diagnosis, Public Redaction presents, an immersive staging of could-have-will-have-beens from the artists’ Endlessly Yours and Business as Bruisual series, ranging from paint-starved works on paper, to sharply creased sonic and sculptural dimensions.

A soft shoulder of implied intimacies and pre-medicated repulsions comprised of quotidian objects, entangled interpersonal ephemera, bureaucratic traces, wry multivocal interventions, and fringe-lit sculptural nuances. An acute awareness of temporal uncertainty permeates the work, and is given weight through textual and spatial accumulation, densely stacked, unwieldy, and occasionally floor-bound in form.

The artists compose an elastic present in which precarity and collapse are at once inevitable and an act of resistance to stasis, in which agency is de-and-re-constructed, then offered up in grand banal gestures as an invitation towards complicity, as cute captioning for collective witness.

Liminal Space Gallery is proud to announce the debut of new works by trans collaborative duo Markus Denil and Marval Rex. The works, living under the banner AMERICAN MASCULINITY, include a film to be shown in Liminal Space’s black box theater, as well as large silk flags hung in the adjacent gallery space. The show’s opening is Friday, March 15th from 7pm to 11pm at 16 Sherman St. in San Francisco.

Described by artist Zackary Drucker as “works that celebrate the sexiness of transmasculinity in an irreverent way,” AMERICAN MASCULINITY is a film and series of photographic works shot on 8mm film. The series captures contemporary transmasculine subjects as they embody traditional American male archetypes, challenging preconceived notions and expanding our collective memory of masculinity.

Food and beverage will be served at the 7pm opening, March 15th. Artists will be in attendance.

Markus Denil is a q***r trans Jewish fag and mischevious transdisciplinary maker from the shores of the Atlantic Ocean in rural Nova Scotia, Canada.

Marval Rex is a Jewish, transmasculine, Catalan-American actor, artist, director and cultural producer based in Los Angeles, CA.

I’ve seen the posts circulating around many arts organizations with artists’ undersigned support for Palestine and the call for a ceasefire. Liminal Space SF really isn’t an institution in the way that these other spaces operate, it’s an underground Trans arts space that I, Sam Carmel, facilitate on my own time and dime. Here I wanted to take the time to put out my own thoughts and words on this issue- we are all interconnected in the struggle for liberation against oppressive forces. In my neighborhood, I tagged “TRANS POWER” about a month ago. A few weeks later, the watermelon stickers were posted above it. After another week “GAZA” appeared above my initial tag. This to me is a simple reflection of the possibility of collective solidarity, the acknowledgement of the intertwined struggle for freedom, equity, and life of oppressed peoples. Palestinian and Trans people are living through genocide, and we see each other and acknowledge this to achieve solidarity and mutual support. Genocide and land theft are acts of evil that should not be tolerated. I’m at a personal loss of how else I can be of benefit to the people struggling to survive the brutal acts of the Israeli military other than to voice my support of the Palestinian people and their right to life, homeland, and freedom.

The dramatic rise in attempts to ban books from library shelves and classrooms threatens to escalate divisions, prejudice the next generation, and further marginalize groups that have already suffered cultural censorship and societal silencing. Books about racism, sexuality, gender, religion and history, and those written by authors of color, by LGBTQ+ authors, and by women are most in the line of fire. Arion Press celebrates these books and writers by calling upon 10 Bay Area artists to celebrate the enduring power and importance of stories that celebrate the freedom to know, to see, and to speak truth.

We are so excited for our post-Folsom screening, OnlyTrans! We are showing a hot stack of performers including the likenesses of , .ca and many others. Hope to see you this Sunday at 6PM after the fair so you can begin to unwind or alternatively get wired up for the events of the evening. We are asking for a sliding scale donation of 10$-20$ at door to compensate our video artists and performers :) Have a happy Fair!
