Drawing upon the influence of San Francisco’s countercultural histories, we provide experiences with art, music, exhibitions and public programs to create community, encou

rage personal exploration and inspire action toward positive cultural change. Haight Street Art Center is the San Francisco home for rock poster art, celebrating the art form’s rich history and deep roots. The Center’s ambitious mission serves both artists and the public, presenting a forum where artists can produce their work and the public can learn about, experience, and appreciate what this vibrant, democratic genre of public art has meant in the past, and continues to mean today. Located at the historic entrance to the Haight-Ashbury, the Center is home to an active artists’ studio and production facility coupled with fine art exhibition galleries. More than just a working museum, the Center not only immortalizes a great American art form but also fosters its preservation and continued relevance by providing traditional production facilities such as silkscreen, woodcut and lithography, as well as innovative, cutting- edge digital production capabilities.

From the Rhythm Devils' thunder to the resonant strings of the Beam, you've spent a lifetime proving that percussion isn't just timekeeping, it's
time travel. You've chased rhythm across continents, dug into its anthropology, and brought back grooves that connect a Grateful Dead crowd to something ancient and universal.

Haight Street Art Center is hosting a special Tuesday conversation series celebrating the “Forever Grateful, Golden Gate Park” exhibition — first-hand stories, rare photos, and conversations with the people who lived the history. Check out the September lineup:

Andy Logan of Grateful Guitars Foundation & musician Alex Jordan on the instruments that defined Bob Weir's sound, moderated by Jay Blakesberg.

🗓️ Sept 22, 6:30pm — “The Art of Grateful Dead Tapers”
Charlie Miller, Mark Rodriguez & Betty Cantor-Jackson on the gear and community behind the legendary tape trees, plus a Mark Gonzales book signing.

🗓️ Sept 29, 6:30pm — “San Francisco's Big Five & the Psychedelic Poster Revolution”

Before the jams, there was the blues, and the blues was the heartbeat of the Grateful Dead. It gave them the language, the feeling, and the freedom to stretch a song until it could go anywhere. From Howlin' Wolf and Canon's Jug Stompers to the slow-burning soul of a midnight jam, the Dead didn't just play the blues—they carried it forward, turning its stories of heartbreak, freedom, trouble, and joy into something uniquely their own. The blues was where the journey began—and the Dead made sure the journey never stopped.

I’m honored to be part of the “Forever Grateful” exhibit at the Hall of Flowers in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, CA!

Thirteen sets of my original, officially issued Grateful Dead backstage passes are on display—and they’re hanging right next to the legendary Furthur Bus! The bus is absolutely insane to see in person!

A huge congratulations to everyone at the Haight Street Art Center for putting together such an AMAZING exhibit. The amount of work that went into this show is incredible, and it’s absolutely beautiful. A must-see!

If you’re around today, I’ll be at the show sketching!

Looking forward to seeing Grahame Lesh play, and a big shout-out to Scott Law, who’ll also be rocking today!
