Pietro Locatelli’s Violin Concerto in D Major carries the legendary nickname: “Il labirinto armonico Facilis aditus, difficilis exitus” (The Harmonic Labyrinth, Easy access, difficult exit).

Its daring, written-out cadenzas were so extreme they helped pave the way for the next era of violin virtuosity, culminating nearly a century later with Niccolò Paganini.

This tour-de-force concerto is performed by award-winning violinist YuEun Gemma Kim, bringing Locatelli’s maze of fireworks vividly to life.
