Executives in media and elsewhere often miss what’s great because they have often throttled the creative side with negative judgements more connected to budget than entertainment. What if it didn’t air the first time? Star Trek only lasted 3 seasons. CSI was a sleeper hit. Both became franchises. Santa Rosa’s Airport is named after Charles M. Schulz and his museum exists because he connected humanity through imagination. Merry Christmas to all the Charlie Browns of the world.
When CBS aired "A Charlie Brown Christmas" for the first time, the network had low expectations for its success. One animator even feared that the holiday special had, "ruined Charlie Brown." However, on December 9, 1965, nearly half of American television sets tuned in to judge for themselves. The reception would turn the special into a classic.
