I woke up to someone tagging me in this video.
So many fond memories. So many amazing musicians all together. Such a wild transformative time in my life.
I had no idea I would become the lead singer in this band at that time.
I was so happy to shake my tambourine and sing my parts and contribute to the entire sound.
That same year, someone said to me

“You’ll never make it, Honey. You’re way too happy”

ANYWAY-to all the musicians on this stage- Thank you for being a huge part of my formative years as a professional vocalist.

We are truly family. And this last show was bitter sweet. On one hand we all love each other greatly and I think WE ALL KNOW IN OUR HEARTS that we will play together again. ONE DAY.

On the other hand we were all aware that this was a moment where great change was upon us. 🥹

I am going off on my own.

“Pushed out of the nest” so to speak.

And as we shared our last long hug he said to me
“Fly Honey. FLY”

Thank you Jonathan for the many years of witnessing your greatness from the best seat in the house!

Thank you for SEEING ME and giving me a platform to share my own greatness.

I have learned and grown SO SO MUCH!! And I will love you forever! ❤️🙏🏽

As I embark on this journey into the depths of artistry and album releasing, I know what challenges I will meet. And I have NO IDEA what is to come!

It’s scary and exciting. I am equipped with arsenal:

Talent, knowledge, connections and GREAT MUSIC.
And I am aware of a FEW of the obstacles I will encounter:
AI, DSP’s and people who want to “support” by asking to be added to the list!
lol. 😆🤦🏽‍♀️ News flash- asking to be added to the list IS NOT SUPPORTIVE.

I’m ready for it all. I’m excited for this next chapter and I pray you will come along - and bring your friends.

But PLEASE- buy the music and the tickets y’all.

Some songs are performed.
Some songs become prayer.

The first time I ever sang “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” at Agape International Spiritual Center, I changed the words and offered it back to Spirit.

I saw Your face.
I felt Your grace.

While I sang, I could feel my music mama, Roberta Flack, smiling somewhere in the quiet, especially in those tiny little phrases she and I shared for years on stages around the world.

When I honor Roberta, I never try to become her.
She was never meant to be imitated.
She was meant to be cherished.

I only hope to keep her spirit, her catalog, and her elegance breathing in rooms that still need her. And as I slowly step from the shadows into my own light, I feel equal parts exposed and certain that this path was written long before I was brave enough to walk it.

Bless Roberta.
Bless this journey.
Bless this beautiful stage.
And bless the musicians who held me so gently while I sang from the deepest part of myself. 🕊️✨

This song was written a long time ago, but the message is still just as relevant today.

It’s important that we stay a little “delusional” when we’re chasing any dream…
A dream of peace
A dream of love
A dream of good fortune

Nothing exists without first believing in it wholeheartedly. And of course, trusting in God and the process.

It has been my absolute pleasure and honor to serve in Jonathan Butler’s band, The Believers, for the last 7 years. I’m so grateful to have this final tour as such a beautiful way to wrap it all up.

And I’m stepping into what’s next believing in my own artistry and message… trusting that I’ll be back on these stages again, this time singing my own songs. I look forward to opening for him and or playing alongside any of the many artists I have shared stages with over the years.
