Broken Covenant was damaged when being photographed for the exhibition. I was contacted by the Svane Foundation and their art handlers who were lovely and apologetic about the accident that occurred. I was brought in to repair what could be fixed with a tough situation… somehow this became more important than the piece’s original meaning. Created in the emotional crucible of the Covid health crisis, modeled after an older gentleman and long time Bay Area model who took considerable risk to come and sit for the piece in person. “Broken Covenant” became a piece about human resilience. About working past a world that will sometimes harm and maim us and to have the courage to dance despite our sorrow.
