Work for I find happiness in the smallest details. When journalists ask where my work “is coming from “. “Well it is from years of physical trauma, the worst pain. But that seems not poetic enough so I rarely give interviews or letting people into my life. Just an example: yesterday I had to drive to Amsterdam and back. The pain in my brain and face kicked in when driving there. I almost prayed it wouldn’t get worse but it did. That drive was horrible and for myself I promissed never to do that again. To stay close to my safe place, hoping I will never have to explain myself again because that is the mental pain. Let me be with my precious wood. It is so rewarding in so many ways. Some years ago I lost almost everything, crawling over the floor of daily horrible pain. When I had a good day I went back working with my hands and it is and will always be a “succes story “. ​and ​will bring the Zen Buddhist nun Jeong Kwan, known from Netflix’s Chef’s Table, to Amsterdam for a new edition of Experimental Gastronomy. Jeong Kwan will create a special organic vegan temple food menu in collaboration with artists who will craft custom cutlery and tableware, especially for the occasion. Experimental Gastronomy is a unique immersive experience that brings together acclaimed chefs and artists to create an exciting and radically different way of enjoying food.

It is and will always be an honour to participate in this event. Especially for the respect for Jeong Kwan: as a person, her lifestyle, experimenting (what is actually the most important aspect in my artwork). And ofcourse for the team of Steinbeisser.
My workproces is not an easy task but this was a whole other experiance, having to work with hard wood, all by hand, not allowing myself to use any electrical device. 1,5 year of trying, the wood couldn't handle my workproces. At the very end, it started to work out. What an amazing challenge. Thank you Steinbeisser, thank you Jeong Kwan. Thank you my dearest friend Ann H. for the images, but most of all your friendship.
