A little snowy day plant dreaming inspired by my latest read
Draupadi’s Fragrant Blooms
Amaranth and Parijat (Night-flowering Jasmine) that she would often braid into her hair since childhood up until the infamous Draupadi Chirharan. She never braided her hair after that and vowed to wash it only with the blood of her enemies, the Kauravas.
Ashwagandha, planted in Indraprastha—her palace, her garden, the place where she felt most like herself.
The Palace of Illusions, a beautiful retelling of the Mahabharata through Draupadi’s eyes. Her character is otherwise portrayed as a shadowy figure of her husbands- the Pandavas
The symbolism of native plants in Hindu mythology is endlessly fascinating.
