Duster Thursday! We dealt with winds all day today which significantly slowed progress but we’ll be back at it tomorrow!

Important reminder to pack a proper dust mask to protect your lungs! I recently picked up a BASE CAMP Mask and have been super happy with it out here. It’s comfy AF and comes with a bunch of extra filters and foam nose pieces. DM me for a discount if you decide to try them out!

I checked in with friends in Reno and have this update for you on the Hawk Fire and the state of Reno businesses before the burn.

This information is current as of Wednesday 8/26 at 7pm. After that, you’ve gotta check for yourself.

Remember: LEAVE NO TRACE on your entire travel route! Leave it better than you found it, and support the locals along the way.

Going to Burning Man? Watch this video!

1. Do your shopping BEFORE Reno. Residents impacted by the need access to essential supplies so please don’t deplete Reno’s stock unnecessarily.
2. Fill up water elsewhere. Gerlach is doing water fills so you can fill there or do so before you get to Reno. They’re open 8am to 8pm thru Wednesday, then 24hrs a day until 8/31.
3. I-80 East IS OPEN (as of 3:00pm). Drive safe and slow!
4. Exercise the Principles here. This is our chance to show our hosts what real burners can do to support them.

5 thinks to know if you want to DJ at Burning Man:

1. DO send personalized messages to camps or cars you want to play. DO NOT send generic messages to multiple camps. We can tell and it goes straight in the trash.
2. DO share about what else you do for the culture! “Good vibes” and your amazing playlists don’t count. Volunteer, build art, or find a way to embody the 10 Principles and tell us about it.
3. DO expect things to go wrong. Often. It’s a desert and it’s rare your USBs will survive flawlessly or that the gear will be in decent shape. Embrace the challenges!
4. Leave your ego in Reno. Be polite and ask for what you want. Those two things will get you much farther than you think!
5. Play to the space, time, and crowd. You have the opportunity to create magic! DO NOT try to force a vibe when it’s clearly wrong.
