⏳ 21 hours left. Just $4,513 to go.

We're in the final day of our Kickstarter campaign for Confessional Alter: Demoop Du Soul.

Kickstarter is all-or-nothing. If we don't reach our goal by tomorrow evening, the project doesn't get funded.

This project is a perfect example of what Looking Up Arts is all about. A few years ago, Jacob Hanshaw joined our community to help build giant interactive art. Through the support of our team, he grew from volunteer to lead artist on a Burning Man Honoraria installation.

It also carries the legacy of our late co-founder, Cody Smith. Cody encouraged Jacob to dream bigger, reminded him to keep the whimsy and play at the heart of his work, and even came up with the name "Demoop Du Soul." His spirit lives on in every part of this project.

We're so close.

If you've been meaning to back the campaign, today is the day. Every contribution helps us cross the finish line. If you've already donated, the biggest gift you can give now is to share this post with someone who believes in public art and community.

Join us this Sunday for the Confessional Alter Volunteer Kick-Off at Upside Artspace in San Francisco!

Confessional Alter: Demoop Du Soul is an interactive art experience exploring confession, transformation, humor, vulnerability, and connection — and we’re looking for builders, makers, creatives, organizers, and curious humans to help make it happen.

Come meet the team, tour the space, learn about the project, and find ways to get involved. No experience necessary — there are ways for everyone to contribute.

Community-built art changes lives. ✨Donate to our end of year fundraiser today!

This year, we welcomed fifteen high school students into our workshop for a week-long lantern-making intensive. They designed and laser-cut their own illuminated sculptures — and walked away knowing they are artists, too. 🏮💡

To keep workshops like this (and so much more) going into 2026, we’re launching our 2025 Year-End Fundraiser with a goal of $6,000 to support our annual operating costs.

Here’s how your gift helps:

🔧 $750–$1,000 → New tools & equipment
🧰 $300–$600 → Workshops, insurance & volunteer programs
🏠 $250 → One month of rent at Upside workshop
🔥 $100–$200 → Welding supplies for training
🎨 $25–$100 → Materials to experiment with (plywood, LEDs, paints & more)

As a thank-you, donors can choose Namaskaram rewards — and if you’re missing swag from Flamingo, Rainbow Bridge, or Sirsasana, we might have treasures tucked away. 👀

As we wrap up 2025, we’re reflecting on everything we built together this year, from hands-on skill-building workshops to large-scale public art that sparks joy and connection.

This spring, we hosted fifteen Drew School students for a week-long lantern-making workshop. They designed and laser-cut illuminated sculptures, a beautiful reminder of why we do what we do: create spaces where everyone is encouraged and supported to make art.

To keep this work going into 2026, we’re launching our 2025 Year-End Fundraiser with a goal of $6,000 to help cover a significant portion of our annual operating expenses.

Here’s how your gift helps:

$750–$1,000 → Purchase new tools or upgrade essential equipment

$300–$600 → Support workshops, insurance, and volunteer programs

$250 → Cover a month of rent at Upside workshop

$100–$200 → Buy welding supplies for training

$25–$100 → Stock materials like plywood, LEDs, paints, fasteners & more

Every dollar keeps the sparks flying. 🔥

As a thank-you, donors this year can select Namaskaram rewards. And if you’re a collector missing swag from past projects (Flamingo pin, Rainbow Bridge tee, Sirsasana sticker, etc.), ask — we may have extras. 😉

Real magic requires a real workshop. ✨

We’re known for the big and shiny moments—like Namaskaram greeting thousands at Black Rock City’s keyhole or our giant Rainbow Bridge lighting up the skies in cities across the country. But the real magic happens in the quiet moments you don’t always see:

🔧 It happens when a volunteer learns to weld for the first time.
📐 It happens when a high school student watches their vector design become a physical object.
🏠 It happens right here at our workshop - Upside Artspace.

For this year’s and End-of-Year fundraiser, we aren’t asking for glitter. We’re asking for the grit. We need your help to cover the unglamorous essentials—workshop rent, insurance, tool repairs, and storage—that keep our doors open and our saws spinning.

Your donation is the fuel that keeps this creative engine running. Help us keep building bold, community-centric art in 2026.
