Bring a sacred, meaningful object and Lisa will show us how to 3D scan it and turn it into a glowing digital artwork. It's part tech, part ritual, and very cozy!

No experience needed. Just bring your curiosity (and your object).

It's FREE, and all other supplies will be provided.

Join us for the LAST Physical Storytelling Workshop of the year with the incredible Babatunji Johnson on Sunday (Oct 18), 2pm at Decentered Studio!✨

In this workshop, participants will be led through a 30min yoga warm-up, to open up and strengthen the body. Then they will be led through a series of prompts to get them acquainted with moving through and interacting with the space surrounding them as well as the building and retention of a short phrase of movement. Eventually, participants will be broken up into small collaborative groups, and instructed on creating a short piece of dance which will be heavily influenced by and in relationship with geometry found in the space.

Babatunji Johnson is an award-winning dancer born in Portland and raised in Hawaii. Starting as a self-taught street performer at age 15, he blended diverse hip hop styles, such as breaking, popping, and krump, with formal training in ballet, modern, and contemporary dance. He has performed with prominent companies and artists, including Lines Ballet, SFDanceworks, and Misty Copeland. His outstanding contributions to the field earned him the Princess Grace and Chris Hellman Awards in 2015, followed by the Gerbode Dance Award in 2024.

About our Physical Storytelling workshops:
Every third Sunday, join us for a beginner-friendly movement workshop at Decentered - either a Physical Storytelling workshop focused on developing your individual movement or Group Movement Lab.

If cost is an issue, we have volunteer spots. Reach out to your hosts :]
