My mom passed June 23, 2026, a day before her birthday and almost two years exactly to the day my dad passed. I flew to North Carolina on almost no notice to be with her on the final day, and my sister and I held her hand as she left us to be with my father. Weāre now tasked with cleaning up their house, which is its own giant project. I found their honeymoon photo album yesterday, and thereās so many photos I canāt even begin to share (including the ones above.) Many of them are lovingly hand annotated.
To my loving students, pole, aerial and dance friends:
Iāll be back. My classes are intermittently covered for a while I process and work through funeral arrangements, stacks of paperwork and the frustrating financials of losing your parents. Iām doing ok, but get overwhelmed with people constantly asking me how Iām doing or trying to get me to talk. If you havenāt noticed, I tend to process best through movement and music (and, apparently, humor.)
Hold your dear ones dear. I wish Iād talked to both of my parents so much more. Also donāt leave your home crazy and make sure your kids know where your will is or theyāll go through all your stuff and find out all your secrets. ;)
Love you all,
Jo
