Not to brag (okay, maybe a little 😎), but the San Francisco Chronicle just named our October 8th show with Brooklyn Rider at the Herbst Theatre one of the "Fall 2026: Bay Area’s best classical music and dance performances."

Their words, not ours:

"Known for pairing classical repertoire with new works and cross-genre collaborations, the ensemble approaches the string quartet as a model of democracy, with a musical ecosystem of equal voices and shared responsibilities."

The San Francisco Symphony return of Elim Chan, a tribute to Michael Tilson Thomas, performances by the Australian Ballet and more highlight an ambitious season on stages across the region.

What is it about the human voice that can collapse centuries in a single note? Experience rare, breathtaking voices this season with San Francisco Performances’ Art of Song series at the Herbst Theatre.

Here is a quick look at our incredible lineup:

✨ Nicholas Phan, Tenor (Oct 22): A deeply moving exploration of American migration stories from Irving Berlin to a new work by Shawn Okpebholo.

✨ Angel Blue, Soprano Dec 11): The celebrated two-time Grammy-winning soprano brings her radiant warmth and immense operatic power to the Herbst.

✨ Dashon Burton, Bass-Baritone & the Calder Quartet (Apr 3): A lush, powerful collaboration of Burton with his "wondrous musical gifts" (Chron) and the Calder, who are always a favorite of SFP audiences.

At last week's San Francisco Performances recital of works by Debussy, Saint-Saëns, and Messager, longtime collaborators Anthony McGill and Gloria Chien demonstrated dexterity and depth in the program. Our SFCV reviewer described it as "marked by technical command, seamless passagework, sensitive dynamics, and seemingly effortless breath control." Read the full concert review.
