UPDATE!!!
Please read the below public statement released by the Fillmore Heritage Center management group regarding its future plans:
The New Community Leadership Foundation, the San Francisco Housing Development Corporation and HARD HITTA Promotions, collectively known as the Fillmore Heritage Center Equity Partners, are deeply saddened by the tragic events of this past Saturday, March 23 that took place in front of the Fillmore Heritage Center. We extend our deepest condolences to all those affected by this incident. As announced earlier this week, our team had postponed all scheduled events for the balance of March so that we could mourn as a community and meet with the necessary City departments to assess and enhance all related operations to ensure the safest possible environment for future activities. Over the past six days, we have been working continuously and diligently with the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD), the Entertainment Commission staff, the Office of Economic and Workforce Development (OEWD), and District 5 Supervisor Vallie Brown to review our policies and procedures and to ensure that all programming at the Fillmore Heritage Center meets the strictest safety and security protocols possible for the benefit of our neighbors, patrons, staff and performers. We are extremely grateful for their assistance.
In keeping with our underlying goals of having the Fillmore Heritage Center serve as a thriving entertainment and community hub and a source of healing and positive expression, we are pleased to announce that the already ticketed Comedy Night will take place as planned Saturday, March 30, from 8pm to 11:30pm. This decision was made working closely with the SFPD, Entertainment Commission, Supervisor Brown, OEWD and community stakeholders. Demonstrating the healing power of comedy, the show’s producers will donate $5 from each ticket sale towards street violence intervention programs. We hope you will join us Saturday as a community united by a shared vision of a diverse, vibrant and safe Fillmore.
Following the March 30th show, our team will cease all events for the month of April as we seek to pause and thoughtfully reconsider all aspects of the activation. During this period, we will be in discussion with the City about how the Fillmore Heritage Center can continue to best serve the community into the future. Thank you for your understanding and support.
