Tasmania TASMANIA is a semi-annual event for people to tell their true-life stories in front of a warm and friendly live audience. Intriguing. Thought-provoking. Humorous.

Dramatic. And always personal. (TASMANIA is hosted by Sierra Speakers Toastmasters.) We host live story-telling events in San Francisco every 4-5 months in which real people tell their personal stories about real events in their lives. Personal.

Hello Friends, fans and attendees of our unique events!

We're building our new website (and planning more big storytelling events) and we need your help:

We need ANY and all pictures you took at our events. Informal shots of people chatting and mingling; our speakers and storytellers doing their stuff. Whatever you've got we'd love to see it... and use them.

Send them to us @ [email protected]
Or post them somewhere we can download them and use them on our new website (which will go live very soon).

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

We're changing the day that we hold our next event; from a Thursday evening to a Friday or Saturday evening. We'd love your input. What is your preference? Thanks!

Do you enjoy listening to This American Life on NPR or on their podcast? Or The MOTH podcast? Or maybe reading Found Magazine or Post Secret? All great media for engaging personal stories. We go one better: Offline, live and in-person true personal stories is what TASMANIA is all about. See you tomorrow night for another fantastic TASMANIA event. And tell your friends!

Sure Forrest Gump had a good story, but I think I'd rather hear Jenny tell her story. Yes, she died in the end, but the best stories are sometimes those of adversity, of loss and of failure and learning life's lessons the hard way. The real shtuff that we can all identify with.

A fantastic lineup. Amazing stories. Even some really good food! What a great night it's going to be this Thursday (Feb. 10) at TASMANIA. We'll be treated to true, personal, passionate stories by Tony DeLeon, Michael Simpson, Helen Chao, Jean-Francois Roy, Michael Guerin, Karen Lodrick, Lutz Braum and Ritu Argawal. Can't hardly wait!

is really happy to have Helen Chao as one of our storytellers at this Thursday night's TASMANIA event. She will recount why she is not a cougar... no, a Puma. Well, you'll just have to be there Feb. 10 for Helen's funny stories on youthful unrequited love... or lust. And 7 other people will passionately tell their true personal stories. Just 6 days to go to the big night. RSVP now on the Event page.

The countdown begins. 7 days until our big Feb. 10 TASMANIA event. So exciting! Apparently the Bay Bridge shutdown yesterday was because of the excitement around TASMANIA. The anxious trucker was thinking about TASMANIA and accidentally dropped his load and backed up traffic everywhere for hours. Be excited, but drive carefully everyone.

We're thrilled to have Lutz Braum as a featured storyteller at TASMANIA. He'll tell us his personal story ("Champion") about a lost pocketknife passed down from his father and then on to ... OK, no spoilers here. Join us Feb. 10 to hear Lutz's wonderful story and 7 other storytellers passionately relate their dramatic, true personal stories. It's going to be a great evening. RSVP today on the Event.
