Creating new opportunities for art students, educators, counselors, schools, art education advocates, artists, and collectors. The rising costs of college tuition, insufficient state and government funding, and overall access to higher education in the time of Covid-19, presents a dire need for this kind of specialized support. Art is a marginalized field that is too often misunderstood in schools

, universities, and in the workforce. The decision to pursue art as a serious discipline can seemingly be unrealistic and even inaccessible, especially to low-income students. Many students don't have access to college preparatory training, specifically in the visual arts. Most high schools and junior college's aren't at all equipped to advise students majoring in art. Academic advisors and counselors are usually not well informed on the options and requirements for admission into an art school. Even the universities and private art schools often neglect practical guidance on how to succeed as an artist. Who The Program Serves:

This is the apparent end of accredited private art schools in the Bay Area. The loss of SFAI was a huge hit! Mills college, suffered a similar fate. Now, California College of the Arts is being absorbed by an out of state university.

Vanderbilt University will take over the campus of the Bay Area’s last remaining nonprofit art school.
