plz explain like I’m 5 Needing some clarification/guidance. I know very little about cars so please be gentle, but I also WANT to learn so any explanation would be appreciated . Tonight I hit or ran something over that must have been very sharp. There’s a puncture in the tire (I will not be driving on it until fixed) but also this shredding in what I believe is the rim? Hub cap? Metal thing. My first instinct was to order a new tire which I did, but now I’m wondering if I actually need a new wheel and tire? There’s a mobile tire service by me that I can have come do a diagnostic tomorrow but I thought I’d try here as well that way I can add services to my appointment if needed. I’m aware it needs fixed, but not sure what and to what extent.

Appreciate any input you guys may have!

Modern tire inflators are a scam. Stopped at two different gas stations to top off a a few tires. One charged me and never gave me any air. Stopped at another and paid 2.50 for 5 minutes. It gave air so slowly timer ran out. Paid again just to air up another tire. What happened to the free awesome air of old?

Not a bad price Here’s a more normal price for my area. That’s for 87 octane E10. It’s not coming down because of E15 we don’t have that here and we still have a gas tax.
Edit to add: this is right outside of Austin Texas.

Recommended gratuity after tip was already included I’m sure there are a lot of tipping posts here so to keep it short - I had my wedding at a fancy restaurant. On top of the TERRIBLE service, the bill came with “suggested gratuity” even though I was told gratuity was included. When I asked the manager, he said that the “S/C: 24% SRC REGULA“ was the included tip and the suggested gratuity was if we wanted to add something extra - basically trying to trick people into giving a 49% tip!

**Local Shell is out of regular gas. SW Houston, at a local Shell that I frequent. First time I've ever seen this. It's getting kinda scary now.**

Nothing wakes you up faster than pulling into your usual Shell and realizing regular gas has officially packed its bags and left the chat. The pump is sitting there like, “Super V-Power only today, friend,” while my wallet is in the passenger seat pretending it suddenly doesn’t know me.

I came here expecting a normal fill-up, not a premium-only emotional support session. Regular gas unavailable? That feels like the gas station version of a restaurant saying, “We’re out of water, but champagne is available.” At this point, even the pump screen looks tired. It’s showing numbers like it’s trying to warn me before I make a financially questionable decision.

And of course, the fancy Shell sign behind it is talking about “more performance,” like my car asked for a gym membership. Sir, I just need enough fuel to get home, not unlock race mode on the freeway. Has anyone else seen stations running out of regular lately, or is this just Houston keeping us humble? Would you pay for premium or drive around praying the next station still has the cheap stuff?

**Los Angeles, 6/11/26, 8 a.m.**

Nothing says “good morning” like pulling up to a Sinclair sign and realizing your gas tank just became a luxury subscription service. I don’t know if I’m buying unleaded, plus, premium, or financing a small dinosaur fossil, but these numbers had me checking my bank account before I even touched the pump.

The main sign says one price, the smaller sign says another, the traffic light is red, and even the “DO NOT BLOCK INTERSECTION” sign looks like it’s trying to warn people not to block the emotional damage happening here. At this point, I’m not filling up the tank—I’m making a financial decision that may require three witnesses and a payment plan.

And the best part? The little dinosaur on the sign is smiling like he’s proud of what’s going on. Sir, why are you cheerful? You’re charging people enough to make them consider walking to work with confidence. Los Angeles really knows how to wake people up before coffee. Would you stop here for gas, or would you just coast downhill and pray?
