Music City Starfactory Gallery Tours Ep. 16 – Kehlani

Kehlani is a Grammy-winning singer and songwriter from Oakland in the San Francisco Bay Area. Born Kehlani Ashley Parrish in 1995 and raised in Oakland, they attended Oakland School for the Arts and first gained attention as the lead singer of the local group PopLyfe on America’s Got Talent.
Kehlani broke out as a solo artist with their soulful blend of R&B, pop, and hip-hop, delivering raw and honest songs about love, identity, mental health, and resilience. Hits and albums like SweetSexySavage, It Was Good Until It Wasn’t, and their 2026 self-titled album have earned them multiple Grammy nominations and wins, including two for the 2025 single ‘Folded.’
Proudly repping the Bay Area, Kehlani remains one of the most authentic and vibrant voices in modern music today.

In this series, we highlight the legendary music stars that make up the only San Francisco Music Hall of Fame, located in our building at 1355 Bush St. Come by and check out our exhibits, and learn more about the Bay Area's rich music history.

We’re opening the doors to our upgraded podcast studio with the Music City Starfactory Podcast Incubator!

We’re selecting 4–5 creators to receive free weekly access to our upgraded podcast studio for 6 months. This is for the people with a real idea, a strong voice, and the consistency to build a platform around it.

Musicians. Comedians. Founders. Educators. Interviewers. Storytellers. Culture-builders. Community voices.

Selected creators will get access to a professional podcast studio in San Francisco built for audio and video recording, so they can record consistently, bring in guests, create clips, and build a real content library.

In exchange, incubator members will tag Music City Starfactory, mention the studio in their show, allow us to repost clips, and collaborate with us on promotional content.

The goal is simple: help a small group of creators launch or grow their podcasts while showing the Bay Area what this room can do.
