Performers Under Stress

Performers Under Stress In SF since '06, Performers Under Stress devises new plays, combining physical theatre with original, rare, adapted, or compiled writings.

Inspired by the literature of Samuel Beckett, we often produce bare bones. Founded in Chicago 1991, Performers Under Stress explores the unknown, undocumented, unexplored and unexpected. We mentor and develop diverse writers and performing artists, and also reinvent classic works. We believe theatre is an emotionally affecting intellectual challenge, and a tool for social progression towards a more peaceful, humane world. Please see www.pustheatre.com for production history & more info.

If you are following this page and would like to see our current show, Interrogations: Pre-Election Coverage, please buy tickets soon.

Based on current demand, we will start cancelling performances. Currently, no tickets sold for Sun., Oct. 13 so it's likely getting cancelled if insufficient sales by Saturday afternoon.

We are advertising more than usual but we just aren't seeing the interest. I feel that the kind of theatre we do isn't much in demand these days. It feels more like our last show rather than first show back.

Any interest appreciated.

Removed previous post. Facebook wasn't threatening to delete our page. It was a scam. A really convincing one but from a fake domain. The goal was to get the password. Beware, people, scam artists are active. We were susceptible because we had an ad rejected yesterday.

Thanks Lily Janiak for the incredibly meta and honest article, spurred by our rehearsals for "Interrogations: Pre-Election Coverage". It's rare that the reading public gets a glimpse into the critic's process and thoughts around it. Weaving that into the theme of the plays we're producing is quite wonderful.

Theatres are closing in San Francisco. Our response: Performers Under Stress is now a California Nonprofit Corporation. We've always made no profit so not much of a change in that aspect. However, this allows us to do some things we haven't been able to do in the past.

More news as we figure out this new direction for PUS.
