Thank you to all of our many LHT family and friends who have expressed their sympathy at the passing of our long-time LHT colleague, Marc Paquette, last month. Services will be held by his family in Manchester, NH. His obituary and details follow.

Obituary for Marc Joseph Paquette
August 5, 1957 - September 22, 2015
San Francisco, California | Age 58
Loving Son, Brother, Uncle and LHT Colleague

Marc Joseph Paquette, 58, of San Francisco, CA, son of Maurice E. and Lea A. (Thibodeau) Paquette, died of liver cancer and lupus at the Kaiser Permanente Hospital on September 22, 2015.

Marc was born in Manchester, NH and attended local schools. He graduated from Memorial High School in 1975. In his early days, he also took art lessons at the Currier Art Center where a Mr. Poisson was very influential in making him the talented artist that he became. In high school, a Miss Manning, who headed the drama program, prepared him for becoming a Director of the Lorraine Hansberry Theatre in San Francisco.

He received a bachelor of fine arts degree from Plymouth State University in 1992. In 1993, he moved to San Francisco where he managed the Sheehan Hotel and he studied for four more years at the Academy of Arts College. His studies were interrupted by a major stroke. Until he left Manchester, he was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.

He is survived by his parents, a sister, Ellen A. Boudreau, her husband David C. Boudreau, and his nephew and Godson, David C. Boudreau, Jr. all of Manchester.

It is with great sadness that we must inform you that our long-time Lorraine Hansberry Theater (LHT) staff member, Marc Pâquette, passed away last week after a long illness. Marc first became associated with LHT in 1994 as a graphic designer. His first LHT production credit was as Props Designer for 2003’s King Hedley II by August Wilson. In 2005, he became a full-time staff member and was dramaturg for LHT’s 2006 production of Ntozake Shange’s from "okra to greens/ a different kinda love story," and the 2007 production of Stephen Jeffrey’s "I Just Stopped By to See The Man." Marc co-wrote, with André C. Andrée, the script for LHT’s 2007 production of "Black Nativity," and also co-wrote, with Stanley E. Williams, the script for 2009's "Black Nativity." In 2010, he collaborated with André C. André to co-write LHT’s box office smash, "Joyful Noise." Marc was a devoted supporter of Lorraine Hansberry Theatre and LHT founders Quentin Easter and Stanley E. Williams who both passed in 2010. Marc truly believed "The show must go on!" In January of 2015, he became ill and retired from day-to-day operations at LHT as the Webmaster and Manager of Audience Development in order to make the most of his remaining time. Marc earned a BFA in studio art, with a minor in anthropology/ sociology, from Plymouth State University, in his native New Hampshire. His artistic talent shone through the many creative graphic designs and artwork he created for LHT's website, play programs and flyers. He will be sorely missed by his colleagues, friends and the extended Bay Area theater family, as well as his own family in New Hampshire.
