🌙 This Wednesday I’m on the decks for Jane Kim at the fabulous Moongate Lounge moongatelounge
I’ve been making music and art in this city for over 20 years, and for just about that whole stretch Jane Kim has been one of the most consistent progressive fighters San Francisco has. School board, then District 6 supervisor from 2011 to 2019 — the Tenderloin, SoMa, Chinatown-adjacent corridors, the neighborhoods that get talked about and rarely fought for. Free City College. Tenant protections. Affordable housing when it wasn’t the popular position. She didn’t discover any of that recently.
Now she’s running for California Insurance Commissioner — and she made it through the June primary to the November general. That office regulates the largest insurance market in the country, and after the fires, the cancellations, the premium hikes, it matters more than it ever has. She’s refusing money from insurance companies, which means this campaign runs on us.
So come celebrate her birthday and put some love behind it:
