We’re excited to announce a new faculty member!
While Liam Lindner is new to teaching with us, he’s no stranger to Leela- having been a dedicated student and performer with us for many years, as well as a frequent (and beloved) Leela community jammer. Liam brings so much warmth, kindness and playfulness- and we’re so honored to have him on our faculty, inspiring our next generation of improv artists.
Liam grew up in Asheville, NC — where he earned the “most likely to become a comedian” superlative at his religious high school. He went on to earn a BS in Business Information Technology from Virginia Tech in 2009, then moved to San Francisco in 2014 as a co-founder of a tech startup, taking his first Leela class shortly after arriving. Over the years he explored his love of live performance with training in musical improv, sketch writing, and experimental theater (taking classes with the Neo-Futurists). He began performing regularly in 2020, has been a founding member of several troupes, and is one half of the duo The Counterfeit Gurus alongside fellow Leela faculty member Steven Burnett. He currently performs with Dream Collective.
His teaching draws on interests in psychology and somatic practice, grounded in the belief that when people feel genuinely safe, play and creative flow come naturally. Improv is a chance to have fun, connect, and bring more joy into the world.
When he’s not on stage, you’ll find him exploring the city on his bike, hunting down good tea, or practicing his singing.
