All Killing My Lobster Sketch Writing classes culminate in a Final Read of selected student work, performed by actors from the KML professional talent pools.

In our sketch classes, you'll learn how to define premise, game, and escalate it to hilarious levels of absurdity. In this case:

PREMISE: What if instead of hold music you just talk to some guy

GAME: He's an oddball who loves talking about his medical issues with strangers

RESULT: Stinky cauliflower ear--OBVIOUSLY.

Our seasoned instructors will guide you through our Sketch Comedy Writing 1 class, which covers comedic structure, how to find the game, and heightening the humor. 📈

On Wednesday, June 24th, from 6 - 9pm, we take advantage of Elixir's poor judgment to step behind the bar and mix up cocktails and comedy (with the help of a seasoned bartender, thankfully). 🙏

Unpacking after our last Sketch on Speed yielded some gems we didn't end up using during a sketch 🥲

Before the show, we asked the audience: "What are some unusual red flags you might see in a relationship?" These suggestions were used mid-sketch so that the audience could "object" to a wedding. 🚩🚩🚩

Here are just a handful of the leftover suggestions from the jar, and some of these seem, ahem, based on lersonal experience. And all we can say is--are you ok?? 😳

At Killing My Lobster's Sketch on Speed last Saturday, we aimed for "Big F*ck It Energy," and by jove, we achieved it--by throwing caution to the wind, fearlessly following our instinct, going BALLS to the WALL, and putting all, all, ALL of ourselves into this 12-hour, experimental, cross-disciplinary sketch comedy show. 🏁🏁🏁

We're still sweaty, but damn, are we satisfied! 😅

🏁SKETCH ON SPEED🏁 is TOMORROW, Saturday, May 16th--and we are READY. (ish) 😅

When you have to create an entire sketch comedy show in just 12 hours, and especially when that sketch includes improvised moments/audience interaction/who knows what other surprises, there are a few sayings it's helpful to live by:

1. Expect the unexpected!
2. Fortune favors the prepared!
3. I wouldn't eat that, it's been in the fridge for a long time!

Ok, that last one isn't exactly an idiom, but it IS wise. 🦉

Our headquarters are ready. The stage at is red-hot. Our writers and actors are braced to create at breakneck speed. And our tickets are going fast. ⏰️

Our kickoff has kicked, our brainstorms are storming, and our team is assembled for Killing My Lobster's next Sketch On Speed (May Edition). And...uh oh...there are no f*cks detected anywhere!! 0️⃣

Turns out, that's sort of a requirement for this kind of show. Because this entire production, which folds together sketch comedy with moments of improv, crowdwork, and ultra-topical content, will be created in just 12 hours! ⏰️

At 9pm on Saturday, May 16th, join us at Z Below for sketch comedy that was written, produced, and rehearsed all in just 12 hours--then performed in a show that only gets more sweaty as the weather gets warmer. 🥵

Sketch on Speed is a wildly unpredictable, one-night-only experience, with ultra-topical sketch comedy, improv and crowdwork folded into the script, pranks on the actors (who have only rehearsed for, like, 40 minutes), and any number of other wild shenanigans that we cannot foresee--because it hasn't been written yet! 🔮
