We are pleased to present California Imagined, a new exhibition of paintings by Deladier Almeida, on view in our San Francisco gallery through July 31.
In this exhibition, familiar landscapes become spaces where observation and imagination converge. Inspired by countless flights over rural California, Almeida transforms agricultural fields, waterways, and cultivated patterns into rhythmic compositions of color, geometry, and gesture. Through vibrant palettes, expressive brushwork, and shifting perspectives, the paintings move beyond straightforward depiction, inviting viewers to navigate between recognition and abstraction.
Born in Brazil and based in California since the mid-1980s, Almeida studied at the University of California, Davis with Wayne Thiebaud, Roland Petersen, Roy De Forest, and David Hollowell. His work has been exhibited extensively throughout the United States and internationally, including presentations at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the Hilbert Museum of California Art.
