👘🌺5/6 APA Heritage Awards & Community Gala🥻🦋

Japantown was in the house at last night’s APA Heritage Awards and Celebratory Gala at City Hall to kick off AAPI Heritage Month!

The evening was filled with fantastic performances by the Lily Cai Dance Company, GER Mongolian Youth Center, and an amazing cultural procession set to a live performance of HUNTRIX’s “Golden” from the movie Kpop Demon Hunters. Awards honored the 35th year of the Autumn Moon Festival, the Samoan Community Development Center, and inspiring AAPI Youth Change Makers.

The Japantown Task Force and Japantown Cultural District were proud to attend and serve as marketing partners and especially proud to see Bay Area Japanese community members represented on stage — including Master of Ceremonies Ryan Yamamoto from KPIX , Randy Kikukawa, Music Director of the GAPA Choir singing the national anthem, and our own Japantown Community Benefit District’s Grace Horikiri

A beautiful night celebrating our AAPI culture, community, and organizations shaping the future of the Bay Area. 🌸
