For our 3(/4) year party next Friday we’ll be having two shows! The first show will be some of the pieces submitted for the Wave x Noel👩🏼🌾+👩🏻⚕️Barrie wine collab label, and the second will be something a little more spontaneous: a BYO art show! Bring a piece you’ve been wanting to show, or something you never thought you would. It’ll just be up for a week, so don’t hold back! We’ll also have some supplies for coloring and general art making, so if you don’t have anything to bring, just come make something!
Friday Sept 11 is a new moon, and I think it’s fitting to think of what changes and growth this next year of Wave will bring.
I can’t believe it has been THREE full years of Wave at 663 Haight, and 4 years since Jenna Melnyk and I (Jamila Leilani Keba) started Wave as a popup. That year doing the popup with Jenna was a magical whirlwind of community and creativity, and the three years since figuring out how to be a business person and running Wave on my own has been the wildest ride I couldn’t have ever imagined.
Let’s celebrate with art and music and likely a cake.
