Livable City stands firm for equity neighborhoods.

At the DPH budget hearing, Livable City’s Director, Darin Ow-Wing spoke about the real impact of the complete defunding of Sunday Streets, a program that serves communities across San Francisco through open streets, public space activation, small business support, and neighborhood connection.

This is not just a budget decision. It affects families, local businesses, community organizations, public spaces, and the neighborhoods that rely on programs designed to bring people together.

As we launch the first event of the Sunday Streets Miracle Season, we are deeply grateful to the partners, sponsors, donors, volunteers, and community members whose support made this return possible.

Sunday Streets serves equity neighborhoods that deserve continued investment, visibility, and public support. Livable City remains committed to standing with San Francisco’s communities and advocating for the public spaces, partnerships, and programs that make the city more inclusive, connected, and livable.

“What drew me to Sunday Streets is the open street experience. In Atlanta, we have Atlanta Streets Alive,” says Maria.

Open streets are a movement, connecting cities, neighborhoods, families, local businesses, and communities through public spaces designed for people.

Tenderloin Sunday Streets showed what is possible when community comes together.

We were honored to have Supervisor Bilal Mahmood 馬百樂 District Supervisor for the Tenderloin, join us and recognize the organizers, partners, vendors, and residents who helped make this one of the neighborhood’s proud community moments.
