Actors' Reading Collective

Actors' Reading Collective We're a collective of (mostly) SF Bay Area actors creating a new kind of theatre in a new world

Our mission is to share the artistic, spiritual, and emotional passion uniquely inherent to theater and storytelling. ARC is actor-inspired, -shaped and -driven: a collective molded by our mutual efforts and member input. We’re deeply committed to changing the way BIPOC members are cast, and practice gender and age inclusion in an attempt to move our mutual humanity forward, to listen to what is n

eeded, and what is lacking. We challenge ourselves to change.

Our goal is to help support our members, many of whom have been severely impacted by the Covid-19 Pandemic with loss of jobs, funds, and health insurance, through this crisis and beyond. Through our streaming channel, we seek to reach a larger audience for our readings and to present some of it for local theaters and Arts organizations, thereby creating opportunity, and providing a space for collaboration and potential.

HAPPY OPENING to A ROOM IN THE CASTLE

the West Coast Premier of Lauren Gunderson's feminist spin on Hamlet

featuring ARC Artists Sheila Devitt, Amy Kossow, Leontyne Mbele-Mbong, Luisa Sermol, Emilie Talbot

The 222 presents
A Room in the Castle
by Lauren Gunderson
Directed by Amy Kossow

May 15 - 24, 2026

The troubled, grieving Prince of Denmark is never far from the thoughts of Ophelia, a caretaker to Ophelia, and the Queen of Denmark. Gunderson does a masterful job re-imagining the women trapped by class, circumstances, expectations, and desire within the castle’s walls. Each, in their own way, follows the queen’s edict for women—to “obey, agree, assist”—until they absolutely do not. This play dances and duels with Hamlet, foregrounding the women in the play and re-imagining them with agency, vitality, and radical hearts eager for a more hopeful ending.

In this cherished American Pulitzer Prize-winning classic written by Tennessee Williams, Amanda Wingfield, a faded remnant of Southern gentility, lives in a cramped apartment with her son, Tom, and her shy daughter, Laura, who has a physical disability. When Tom brings home a “gentleman caller” for Laura, the fragile illusions they’ve created to make life bearable begin to crumble around them.

T Bone n Weasel is a highly original and high-spirited comedy following two ex-convicts as they make their erratic way across South Carolina in search of a hot meal or an easy mark.

“Every time they try to break the law, the law breaks them. A tale of two idiots, smartly told by playwright Jon Klein, “T-Bone n Weasel” is kind of like a good road-kill: it’s funny, gross and makes a lasting impression.” — Variety

HAPPY OPENING to THE GLASS MENAGERIE!

Featuring ARC Artist Luisa Sermol (Amanda).

Lakewood Center for the Arts presents
The Glass Menagerie
by Tennessee Williams
directed by Antonio Sonera
featuring Mario Calcagno, Spencer Conway, Ariel Puls, Luisa Sermol

February 27 - April 5, 2026

Set in St. Louis in the 1930s, Tennessee Williams’ timeless memory play is told through the eyes of Tom Wingfield (Mario Calcagno), who recalls life in a cramped apartment with his formidable mother, Amanda (Luisa Sermol), and his fragile sister, Laura (Ariel Puls). As the family struggles with financial instability and shattered dreams, they pin their hopes on the arrival of Jim O’Conner (Spencer Conway), a “gentleman caller,” for Laura.
More than just a play, The Glass Menagerie is an emotional landscape. It captures the universal ache of looking backward—at the family members we loved, the ones we left behind, and the illusions we build to survive reality. It is a story about the fragility of the human heart, as easily broken as glass.
