Aprendo la porta del nostro giardino l’occhio cade sul primo vaso che introduce l’orto. Questo vaso è diventato una specie di “tela sperimentale”, dove ogni 3-4 mesi togliamo ed aggiungiamo piante, per avere sempre qualcosa in fioritura. Al ritorno dalle vacanze in Sicilia abbiamo trovato una vera e propria esplosione di colori.
I Cosmos, coi loro grandi fiori viola e rosa fanno il loro spettacolo, ma la Scabiosa (praticamente continuamente in fiore da oltre 12 mesi) è stata per me la più bella scoperta. Notare le macchie viola scuro, quel che resta delle Campanule, ormai agli ultimi sgoccioli, e i timidi colori della Linaria, un’altra pianta che, pacatamente, fiorisce da oltre un anno. , , , , , , , , , , ,

My Garden in San Francisco - August/Il mio giardino a San Francisco - Agosto

The summer is starting to fade and so are many of the blossoms in the garden, but we still have the warm months of the fall ahead of us and lots of flowers to enjoy.

L’estate va appassendo e lo stesso accade con le fioriture del giardino, ma ci aspettano ancora i caldi mesi autunnali che prolungheranno ancora i colori dell’estate per molte settimane

A Zen Garden/Un Giardino Zen

Zen gardens need to reflect 7 basic guiding principles:
Austerity, Simplicity, Naturalness, Asymmetry, Mistery, Magical/Unconventional, Stillness.
I have never designed a Zen Garden before and for this exercise I wanted to provide the client different options reflecting both a traditional approach (clearly inspired by the monastery of Ryoan Ji) and other options reflecting less orthodox references.
I felt that the linear stone patterns replaced efficiently the racked gravel, typically found in the Zen garden, while the stone labyrinth, as a solitary, floating element, replicated the sense of mystery and unconventional that we find in Zen spaces.

I giardini Zen devono riflettere 7 principi guida di base:
Austerità, Semplicità, Naturalezza, Asimmetria, Mistero, Contenere un elemento esoterico/non convenzionale, Quiete.
Non ho mai progettato un Giardino Zen prima e per questo esercizio ho voluto fornire al cliente diverse opzioni che riflettessero sia un approccio tradizionale (chiaramente ispirato al monastero di Ryoan Ji) sia altre opzioni che riflettessero riferimenti meno ortodossi.
Ho pensato che dei patterns lineari, tracciati sulla ghiaia con dei massi avrebbero rimpiazzato efficacemente la ghiaia rastrellata che si trova tipicamente nei giardini Zen, mentre il labirinto di pietra, come elemento solitario, sospeso sulla ghiaia, replicava il senso di mistero ed esoterismo che troviamo negli spazi Zen.

My Garden In San Francisco/Il Mio Giardino A San Francisco

July in San Francisco, means fog and wind in the morning and sunny hot afternoons. This is the month when, in our garden, the hydrangeas and the salvias start to bloom. We came back after 3 weeks of vacation and were shocked to find that the paths of the garden had almost disappeared under the new growth of Calandrina, Geranium and Salvias.

Luglio a San Francisco, significa nebbia e vento al mattino e pomeriggi caldi e soleggiati. Questo è il mese in cui, nel nostro giardino, iniziano a fiorire le ortensie e le salvie. Siamo tornati dopo 3 settimane di vacanza e siamo rimasti scioccati nello scoprire che i percorsi del giardino erano quasi scomparsi sotto la nuova crescita di Calandrina, Geranium e Salvias.
