Work want you to know what this day is all about - main message: donate to a spicy org of your choice, because pole dancing was brought to us by spicy workers.

There are so many SW orgs to choose from, pick one (or two or three) that speak to you and share what you can.  As NatsHoney says, this day is an annual reminder to have the VERY important conversation of where pole dancing came from, what spicy workers are dealing with now, how the gentrification of pole dancing has shaped the way society views spicy workers in contrast to pole dancers, what harm that has done and how we can all do better.

Don’t forget, the media co-opted the story of spicy workers in relation to pole dancing, including but not limited to articles that often started with “pole dancing is no longer related to seedy clubs”, etc. We watched those articles pop up all over the internet when the pole dance craze hit, and people ate it up with a spoon.

YAS Work is dedicated to changing the way media represents SW’s and to continue to maintain a space where SW’s get to tell their stories and build on the true narrative of all those that came before us.  If you love pole dancing, whether you pole or not, today is the day to pay SW’s, the OG’s of pole dancing. Today is the day, (every day is really) to have sincere conversations about st****er pole history.
