Dance Mission Theater supports Cuba’s right to be a sovereign nation and stands in fierce opposition to inhumane blockade. Check out this beautiful article by The San Francisco Standard featuring two of our long time teachers, Ramon Ramos Alayo and Susana A Pedroso and organizational community partners, CubaCaribe and Arenas Dance Company and art’s role as community resilience and cultural resistance!

Sending love to la gente Cubana!

Family - run to this show. KULARTS has one more performance of “Tubong to Living Ancestors” tomorrow, Sunday at 5pm at Dance Mission. We are sooooo lucky to live in San Francisco where these master artists have been infusing our community with art and culture for decades. Thank you, KULARTS for having us celebrate people while they are earth side. Enjoy these beautiful slides by

Well that was pretty special. Clothes on Fire is deff 🔥. Thank you to everrrrryonnne who came out today to the WIP showing. We want to continue developing this show, so if you have money burning while in your pocket, we know what to do with it.

First slide is a clip of the re-staging of Fogo’s Carnaval homage to Malonga Casquelourd , Carlos’ teacher and brother, after he passed. Lest we forget - this is a story celebrating Black and Brown solidarity, how immigrants make our community great, the medicine of art and culture, and how we are still here and strong thanks to the work of those who came before.

The second slide is a photo of the directors and OG Fogo members at the talk back.

What an amazing legacy to be a part of!!! Carlos Aceituno presente.

Clothes on Fire: The Carlos Aceituno Story is TODAY at 3pm at Dance Mission Theater! Brought to you thanks to a dope collaboration between Fogo Na Roupa , Acción Latina , Paul S. Flores , and Dance Mission!

This work in progress showing is FREE but advance reservations are sold out. Come early to see if tickets are released. And, if you have a reservation, don’t forget that you must check in by 2:45pm or else your reservation is subject to being released to someone on the wait list.

Because of the WIP showing, Fogo’s drum and dance classes at 12pm and 1pm respectively are canceled today at DMT (all other adult classes are ON).

And then after the show, we are all heading down to the Paseo Artistíco Block Party, as Fogo is performing at 5:30pm at 24/Harrison. Or come to the party earlier : Dance Mission will be there all day starting at 11am tabling and checking out the other fantastic performances. Come say hi!!! It has been amazing to be a partner on Paseo Artistico for the past ten years, and this will be the last Paseo event 😭… at least for a while!
