Upside Artspace will be launching its 2026 CNC and laser classes this February. If you’ve been wanting to make more art, thinking about taking an art class, or are curious about how to make amazing art with these exciting tools, come check out our classes next month!

CNC Basics and Machine Safety Course (2 parts)
Part 1: Tuesday, February 10 from 6pm - 9pm

These CNC and laser courses will be taught by Ryan Montgomery of Geary and Hyde Design, an Upside Resident Artist specializing in medium to large scale artwork. He has over 10 years of CNC and laser experience and uses these machines in his practice regularly.

🎨 Upside Artspace is hosting a special collaborative Artist Spotlight exhibition this Saturday night featuring the artwork of Anna Ovchinnikova .o_art and Heresy Cake 🎨

Anna Ovchinnikova is a San Francisco-based artist whose work balances bold compositions and expressive use of color, shaped by her fine art degree and background as an art director. Beyond the canvas, Anna is also an art educator, inspiring students of all ages to unlock their creative potential. Anna’s work includes studio pieces—some of which are exhibited here—live painting events, and commissions.

Heresy Cake draws inspiration from a range of avant-garde movements and pop art, the artist recontextualizes erotic, natural, and commercial images from vintage magazines, subverting familiar symbols and iconography to evoke new meanings. The artist’s collages conjure a mesmerizing world where the viewer is invited to confront the intersections of the personal and the universal, and hopefully inspiring others to recognize that anything can serve as fuel for inner creativity. Congrats to and the team who made and installed it and survived storms at Black Rock City last week.

It truly transfixed hoards of Burners, many of whom laid in the dirt to stare up at it for long stretches. It was visible from a mile away, and pulled folks in like moths to a flame.

Happening at Upside this month: the Looking Up Arts team finished their refurb of Interlace, before departing Wednesday for an install in Monterrey. The paint job looks great, and now the steel is silver and white. Hope it's a smooth install 😸
