Next September, the world’s leading ballet stars will join together to celebrate the legacy of the legendary dancer Rudolf Nureyev in London at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane.​​​​​​​​

Each piece has been selected to represent different aspects of Nureyev’s incredible life and work and are accompanied by live music performed by the Royal Ballet Sinfonia conducted by renowned Music Director David Briskin.​​​​​​​​

The Rudolf Nureyev Competition , created in 2019 in collaboration with the Municipality of Rimini and the support of the Rudolf Nureyev Foundation, aims to perpetuate the immense choreographic heritage of the most famous dancer of the 20th century, while respecting his own affirmation : “As long as my ballets are danced, I will stay alive”.​​​​​​​​

Earlier this year, pre-selections and masterclasses have taken place at the Amintore Galli Theater in Rimini. Coached as always by the Etoiles of the Opéra National de Paris and artistic heirs of Rudolf Nureyev. ​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
In April a new round of pedagogical sessions and pre-selections for the 2022 competition will be made, to replace, for those who wish, the video pre-selections.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
The Grand Finale will then take place in July, and we can't wait to meet and see dancing these promising new generation of dancers!​​​​​​​​

Teachers and coaches Etoiles Opéra National de Paris, and former partenaires of Rudolf Nureyev Charles Jude, Moniqye Loudières, Elisabeth Maurin and Wilfried Romoli will be present, along with Toni Candeloro and Yannick Stephant.

Le Journal Intime de Rudolf Noureev, by Marianne Vourch, was released in France on March 17th, on his birthday date.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
Marianne Vourch is a producer and podcaster, and already published books about Maria Callas and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, like private "diaries", written in the first person.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
"Le journal Intime de Rudolf Noureev" will also be released as a podcast, read by the French actor Lambert Wilson. ​​​​​​​​

Rudolf Nureyev died on January 6th 1993, 29 years ago.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
According to his last wishes, he was buried in the Russian cemetery at Sainte-Geneviève-des-bois, near Paris. The ceremony took place on January 12. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Rudolf Nureyev’s memorial was unveiled on Monday 6th May 1996. It was designed and built by set designer, Ezio Frigerio who often designed Nureyev’s choreographies sets. This mosaic memorial resembles one of the oriental kilim rugs that Nureyev loved so much.
