Today's the day for Mask Monday! 🤡✨

If you’ve never been… Where have you been?

Mask Monday is an ever-changing, entirely original, variety show performance series, featuring Commedia-inspired masked emcees and a wide range of disciplines including puppets, mask, clown, mime, musical theatre, drag, improvisation and more. The evening is a hub for the ongoing development of "promisingly unfinished physical+ theatre" in the SF Bay Area. Mask Monday is family friendly and always free to the public.

Mask Monday can’t happen with a host! (Who else is going to keep Jake and Tabitha in line?) You know him, you love him, you’ll be emcee’d by him: the phenomenal 🎙️✨

Phil Wong is an award-winning theatre artist from the City of Oakland. He has worked as an actor in stages across the Bay Area including ACT, SF Playhouse, TheatreWorks, SF Shakes, ZSpace, Word for Word, Shotgun, Lamplighters, KML, Hillbarn, Los Altos Stage, Palo Alto Players, Ray of Light, The EXIT, Cal Shakes (RIP), BACT (RIP), and Cutting Ball (RIP). Regionally he has performed at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Union Arts Center Seattle, and Portland Center Stage. Recent side quests include being the chef for the San Francisco Mime Troupe’s Youth Theatre Program, a playwright for Contemporary Asian Theatre Scene’s AAPI Playwright’s Festival and Berkeley Rep’s Ground Floor, an emcee and co-founder of Bay Area Theatre Cypher, and the host, director, producer, and co-writer of “”The Auntie Pho Comedy Hour””, a late-night anti-fascist talk and sketch show that just finished a completely sold out run at Z Below.

Did you know that any theatrical show cannot occur without stage management? The art form takes a certain amount of care and organization. We are so grateful for the keen to be joining us TOMORROW to run the show! 👏 🎬

Ka’Nayah Landers-Daniels (she/her) is an up and coming theater artist from the East Bay area. She has worked in several productions as a Stage Manager with theaters such as Oakland Theater Project, Berkeley Playhouse, Shotgun Players, and San Francisco Shakespeare Company. You can see her now in the production of "Orpheus Descending" at Oakland Theater Project starting August 7th.

And the guest artist spotlights get progressively bigger and better! Joining previously announced Monique and Drew, the adroit will get your furry feet toe-tapping to some promisingly unfinished physical MUSICAL theatre! 👣👯‍♀️

Adrienne Kaori Walters is thrilled to be back onstage, now with puppets! She is a Bay Area actor, teacher, and coach, and previously served as Hillbarn Theatre’s Conservatory Director for many years. Previously, Adrienne performed across Bay Area stages with favorite roles including Peter and the Starcatcher (TheatreWorks), Blasted (Shotgun Players), and Beneath the Tall Tree (TheatreFIRST). Adrienne holds a BA in Anthropology (minor in Classics) from SFSU and a Master of Arts in Teaching from SCU. Huge thanks to Monique for letting us join her hilarious and amazing adventure with Bonnie Jane and Rizz!

Another day closer, another guest artist spotlight featuring the dreamy 🎤 🐀 (You'll have to come to see for yourself to see what these emoji means!)

Drew Reitz is excited to be back onstage for one night only! After a five year break, Drew’s current artistic passion is supporting new works through workshops and readings. Back in the day, Drew performed in productions around the Bay Area with SF State, Hillbarn Theatre, Pear Theatre, Palo Alto Players, and Custom Made Theatre Co. Favorite roles include “Del” in Cowboy vs Samurai (Pear) and “Ryan” in In Love & Warcraft (Custom Made). Many thanks to Monique for the chance to help bring her amazing new musical to life!

With only a week away until Mask Monday, it is time for another guest artist spotlight! Put your puppet arms today for the magnificent 💥 🎼

Monique Hafen Adams has had readings of her short plays Les Gueules Cassées, Ella at the Houston Philharmonic, and Gently Down with Playground SF. Gently Down was produced for The Best of Playground 26. Her short play, The Canterbury Fails, was presented in New York at the Atlantic Acting School. Her full-length play, On Blackwell's Island, was named a Finalist for Bay Area Playwrights Foundation and Semi-Finalist at Premiere Stages. Adams also enjoys being a resident writer and artist with Dorktales Storytime podcast, now in its 7th season.

Another amazing guest artist, who'll be sharing some of their terrific artistry in only 7 DAYS! Please put your hands together for the dynamic ! 👏🧨

Theodore Frances Domingos (he/they) is an Oakland based theater performer, devisor, and educator. After graduating with his BFA in Acting from UCSB, he has spent the last three years working with San Francisco Shakespeare Festival, Theatre Rhino, Analog Theatre, and NCTC. Theodore is also a co-founder of Snatchbox, a Oakland based artistic collective that center q***r performance and storytelling. When he isn’t working on stage or backstage, Teddy can be found breathing through life's chaos in his yoga flow.

That's right! It's that time again!
We are proud to be announcing the not-to-be-missed guest artist lineup for June's Mask Monday, starting with the incomparable ! 🔥🐦

Rebecca Longworth is a performance maker and educator on the cusp of relocating from the Bay Area to New Orleans. Rebecca has created site-specific installations and performances with the Hatch Collective, and co-founded Idiot String, a theatre company dedicated to activating surprise, delight, and human connection in public space. Rebecca's stage directing credits include New Conservatory Theatre Center, Theatre Q, SF Theatre Pub, the One-Minute Play Festival, Jump! Theatre, Boxcar Theatre, Dragon Productions and El Gato Family Theatre. She has also performed with Ragged Wing Ensemble, foolsFURY, and We Players; and has designed motion graphics for live performances and the digital world. Rebecca teaches Humanities and theater-making to high school students, most recently at Latitude 37.8 High School in Oakland. She holds an MA in Teaching from UC Berkeley and in Text & Performance Studies from King’s College London/R.A.D.A.
