Exhibition runs June 5 - June 27

“My work consists of a series of oil painting studies, continuing the exploration from my previous cat meme exhibition. This body of work experiments with color through depictions drawn from viral internet imagery.
Though our processes and styles differ greatly, as a married couple we continually find inspiration in one another’s work.

Much like the viral video that inspired the title of this showcase, the series reflects the growth that comes from developing a fundamental understanding of the basics—balanced with humor, persistence, and play.” - Micah Mariah

“My work showcases painting studies done during my Tattoo Apprenticeship. Most of which is done using Ripe Xuan Paper and Sumi Ink.” - Brandon Dristy

“This collection of pieces contains fragments of the suppressed emotions and fears that resurface in the wee hours of dusk and dawn; the sinking feelings of dread or fear over what one can’t control, suppressed desires from disciplined hearts, and the ambivalence of having personal wins tinged with sadness. The figures included in this exhibition communicate what so many of us feel and struggle to articulate or, perhaps, would rather not speak into existence.” - Alex Ayala

Join us 6p-10p tonight at ArtHatch for the opening reception of Margaret Chiaro’s mini solo show, Nephology!

“My current body of work, “Nephology”, depicts people living in cloudscapes. “Cloud 9” is a sub-series portraying the inner child. “Head in the Clouds”, another sub-series, dabbles in psychological metaphors. “Cloudscapes” are studies of clouds I saw on camping trips or at the beach paired with custom handmade frames, which i collaborated with my husband, a woodworker, to create.” - Margaret Chiaro
