Play Catch With A Dad is a nonprofit organization whose volunteer dads attend Pride festivals across the country to provide affirming, fatherly support to LGBTQ+ adults who have lost — or never had — that kind of presence in their lives.

Through a simple game of catch, a hug, and words of encouragement, we create powerful moments of connection. These interactions are often deeply emotional and can be profoundly healing, offering participants a rare experience of unconditional paternal support.

PCWAD offers Dad allies a fun, meaningful way to support the community in San Diego.

Dear community,

I am but a seed planted on land that is not mine, a body I do not own, and rights that they will not loan, where am I to grow, how am I to know which way to sew when they say the sky is the limit but the sky is riddled with “No’s”.

Every year we think about “what Juneteenth means to me”? But, I want to move past what it means to me, and into what it stirs in me as a black transfemme, what does a celebration of liberation stir, in times of turmoil ? It stirs an unquenchable thirst for defiance, against any narrative that says “NO”, You can’t do that, you can’t love like that, you can’t look like that, you can’t exist like that. A defiance to stare “NO” in the face and say “YES I CAN”.

I defy because my ancestors once defied. When the world tried to tell them they could not exist as anything other than 3/5th of a human, that they could not want for anything beyond the plantation, they dared to defy and show they were capable and deserving of so much more.

That spirit to defy stirs in me to shine as bright as can be beyond the “NO’s” of this world, to be the beacon in the night to help guide us to that land called freedom, as distant as it may seem, and rejoice in the light of the day again and continue to SHINE ON.

Meet our 2026 Keynote Speaker - Hailie Sahar

Hailie Sahar is an award-winning actor, producer, director, singer, and writer.

She made history as one of the five transgender lead actors in Ryan Murphy's groundbreaking FX series Pose, where she starred as Lulu, Mother of the House of Ferocity and made history as the first transgender actor to appear on two television shows simultaneously including Jazmin in Freeform's Good Trouble.

She has been featured in Vogue, Essence, Variety, Allure, and OUT Magazine, and was named one of People Magazine's "Most Beautiful People" in 2020. She is also one of the few trans women to be profiled by Pl***oy Magazine, furthering representation and solidarity.

Crowned both "Miss L.A. Pride" and "Queen U.S.A.," Sahar continues to use her platform for advocacy. She was invited to speak on the HIV/AIDS epidemic at the Ronald Reagan International Trade Center for the 57th Presidential Advisory Council in Washington, D.C., and remains actively involved with the East L.A. Women's Center against domestic violence.

Due to ongoing construction at the Pride Promenade, this year’s rally will be held at a special location, 535 Robinson Ave. Thank you to our 2026 rally partner, The Brass Rail for helping to make this possible.
