Two little rails, one big step for conservation. 💙

Two Ridgway’s Rails hand-raised by SeaWorld San Diego’s bird team began the next chapter of their journey with a move to the Living Coast Discovery Center, where they’ll spend the next few weeks preparing for their return to the wild.

They’re part of Team Clapper Rail, a collaborative conservation effort that has helped zoologically propagate and release 400+ Ridgway’s Rails since 2000, supporting the recovery of this endangered species and the fragile coastal marsh habitats it calls home. After growing up under expert care, they’ll be introduced to potential mates with the hope of producing future generations that can help strengthen wild populations.

We’re proud to work alongside , , and other conservation partners to give these remarkable birds a brighter future. 💙

This masked b***y was rescued in Lakeside emaciated, dehydrated and with an injured wing. 🪽

After receiving care and rehabilitation from our SeaWorld Rescue team, its wing has healed, it’s regained weight and it was finally ready to return to the wild. We hope you enjoy seeing from our POV that incredible moment as it took flight. 💙
