We are proud members of the Oiled Wildlife Care Network (OWCN), a statewide network of organizations committed to providing the best capture and care for oil-affected wildlife in California.

Throughout the year, members of our team participate in specialized OWCN trainings and preparedness exercises, building and maintaining the skills and experience needed to respond when wildlife needs us most.

That commitment to preparedness is being put into action during the ongoing oiled wildlife response efforts in the Los Angeles area, where trained OWCN responders from our organization have joined fellow responders from across the state to support wildlife recovery, care, and rehabilitation efforts.

We are proud to stand alongside our fellow member organizations in this collaborative effort and grateful for the dedication of the teams making this work possible.

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Dottie, an extraordinary dolphin who lived to the impressive age of 39.

Born at SeaWorld Orlando before making her long-term home at SeaWorld San Diego, she became deeply known to her care team and guests alike. She was the devoted mother of four calves, and was especially known for her strong personality and curiosity.

Dottie shared an exceptionally close bond with her care team. These relationships supported the trust needed for voluntary diagnostic behaviors that helped maintain her health, particularly when diagnosed with kidney stones in 2010. After a groundbreaking procedure by the SeaWorld veterinary team, she went on to continue to thrive for another 15 years. Her tenacity and resilience remained evident well into her senior years.

She will be deeply missed by the team who cared for her and by the countless guests who were able to connect with her over her remarkable life. 💙

In celebration of World Sea Lion Day, we're sharing some information about the upcoming Sea Lion Pupping Season, marking the busiest time of year for SeaWorld Rescue. 💙

Devoted to caring for their new pups, sea lion moms often have to hunt for several days at a time before returning to their pups, which is why rescue teams carefully observe before intervening.

We're celebrating World Otter Day by helping you learn the difference between river otters and sea otters! While they may look alike, these animals live very different lives, and one of them plays a HUGE role in protecting the ocean ecosystem! 🦦

Both are undeniably cute, but it's the sea otters who are considered a keystone species because they help keep sea urchin populations in check, protecting the kelp forests that provide shelter and food for countless marine animals. 💙

Need more otters in your life? Tune in to our Sea Otter Cam to catch all the cuddly cuteness 24 hours a day!

Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. We are deeply grateful not only for those who gave their lives, but also for the families who carry their legacy forward with strength, love, and enduring pride.

This Memorial Day, we reflect on the courage, sacrifice, and selflessness that protect the freedoms we enjoy every day.

To our fallen heroes and the families who continue to honor them: thank you. We remember you today and always.
