Happy Friday! Working from home today with my fur babies. Even though there is a lot of crazy s**t going on in the world that can really wear on my heart, I can at the same time find the good moments and parts of my life that I love: working with clients who I really like, making music & hanging with dogs like Maple. ❤️

Thank you for getting this auburn color spot on. I decided to step into my power with going dark again. Being blonde right now just feels too bubbly for the reality happening here right now in the U.s. & in Minneapolis where half of my family lives. This is all my own hair, but Dunia also does great extensions.

What if each and every one of us examined our own past, as painful as it can be at times? Would there be more compassion for each other, more understanding, more connection to humanity? I think so. As Alice Miller points out in her book “For Your Own Good” many of us have unexamined childhoods of abuse and neglect. If we don’t talk about any of it, we act out those abuses in our adult lives.
Imagine where we would be individually, as a country with more people with examined lives. in deeper connection to humanity rather than acting out their childhood abuse on others. I know more and more people today go to therapy, seek out help for addictions, for their anger & are starting to talk more about their lives growing up. Let’s support anyone who seeks therapy, wants to talk or write about their past, is feeling what happened to them and needs to release it in a healthy way. It’s ok to let the past be examined individually, as a family, as a nation. It’s all coming out one way or another. Art and music is also a great way to start the process of examining one’s life.

Such a true statement that applies today and always. I do believe at our very core, we all know what is right. It sits below our masks, our false, at the core of us, in our souls, in our true spirits. Martin Luther King Jr. is an example of doing what is right no matter what. I stand with doing what is right no matter what!

Circa 1978 in the hood of Maryvale, Az with my friends. That year I beat up BJ Nixon for telling me girls have to walk behind boys. My bestie and her disappeared that year with their parents on a rainy night. I found them decades later through social media. And my hair styled appropriately to ABBA, the first album I bought that year. I had to earn the $8 by helping my father demo a wall of our house. I’m a proud Gen X. And yes, we had phones with long chords like the one in my hand.
