North Park EcoDistrict

North Park EcoDistrict Our goal is to build a strong community of leaders that will move our city’s neighborhoods toward a resilient and sustainable future.

The partnership of North Park Mainstreet, SDG&E and San Diego Green Building Council is working together to create San Diego’s first neighborhood scale program aiming to engage local businesses in ‘green’ practices and promote the concepts of EcoDistricts. The North Park Sustainability Initiative will follow the goals of an EcoDistrict Framework, a neighborhood or district with a broad commitment

to accelerate neighborhood-scale sustainability. North Park community members will work together to establish metrics and set goals to measure the progress in the areas of waste, water and energy use. Special attention will be given to historic buildings in the area and specific preservation guidelines that they require. Our goal is to build a strong community of leaders that will move our City’s neighborhoods toward resilient and sustainable future. If you or your organization would like to participate in this groundbreaking effort we invite you to join us!

A fun farm and food awarness event is coming up Art Produce:

Farmers and Me aims to facilitate dialogue between San Diegans and the passionate, dedicated people working in local farms and community gardens in the area who are trying to make a difference in their community.

About the Artist:

Cristal Chen is an artist interested in community engagement for social change. She would like her work to offer a social platform for people to come together and talk. For her, beauty lies in the dialogue and social interactions that take place during the production process. Farmers and Me is a result of her interactions with local farms, farmers, and consumers. Through this project she has realized that the community’s involvement and participation are essential in order for her work to exist and come alive. Therefore, participation and collaboration are the key components in her art.
