WHEW! What a whirlwind these last few weeks have been! 🎶💨

The singers of the San Diego Chorus have been BUSY. We’ve soaked up incredible coaching with the incomparable Lori Lyford and Jana Gutenson, sung our hearts out at SoloVoce's Music on the Porch Day, welcomed guests, shared excited hellos + heartfelt goodbyes, sung for September birthdays, and basically filled every MOMENT of our rehearsals with a whole lot of music, laughter, learning, and rich, ringing chords.

And behind the scenes? Things are getting wonderfully creative! 👀✨ We’re bringing the entertainment side of our International package to life while preparing for our annual show, With A Little Help from Our Friends, on September 27!

This year’s show is especially exciting because it's our dress rehearsal for our 2026 International Competition. You’ll get a first look at the music we’re taking to the International stage, PLUS performances from some pretty amazing friends who will join us on stage.

Come celebrate 75 years of harmony with us and send us off to International in style! 💙🎶

🎂 A birthday, a farewell ... but definitely NOT a goodbye. 💙

After last weekend’s show, our members gathered for an afterglow to celebrate one of our favorite singers, Lori Shelley (but ALSO - with Lori celebrating her birthday just YESTERDAY, it seems like the PERFECT time to send a little more love her way).

Lori has nearly three decades of musical excellence under her belt, singing with both Virginia Coast Chorus (did we mention that her amazing MOM is also a member of SUI/SAI?) and the San Diego Chorus.

Along the way, she has become an indispensable part of our Sweet Adelines International (now SingUnited!) family as Tenor Co-Leader, recycling champion extraordinaire, a past recipient of our annual Director's Award, a member of Nick of Time A Ca****la Quartet plus our incredibly Riser Team ... not to mention that, on occasion, she is the purveyor of some truly exceptional smoked meats for our chorus events, quartets, and members in need, courtesy of hubby Frank Johnson. 😉

Lori is caring, compassionate, generous, dependable, quietly hilarious and, yes, basically, PITCH PERFECT (by all means, please ask her to demonstrate her TE Tuner Face!). She is the kind of person who makes a chorus better simply by PART OF IT.

But now, a wonderful new adventure is calling. Lori is about to become a first-time grandma, and she and Frank are preparing for a move to Texas to be closer to family. ❤️

And while we will miss having her with us every week, this is EMPHATICALLY NOT goodbye. Lori will become our newest out-of-town member and you'll find her right back (where she belongs) when we take the International stage this fall.

So today, we’re celebrating ALL the things: a birthday, nearly 30 years of harmony, a new home, a new grandbaby, and a friend whose place in our chorus family isn’t changing just because her ZIP code is.

We love you, Lori. We’ll miss you fiercely, cheer you on enthusiastically, save you a spot on the risers, and welcome you home every single chance we get. 💙🎶

🎶 Now THAT was an afternoon to remember! 🎶

Yesterday, our singers were delighted to join our friends at Pacific Coast Harmony for their Waves of Harmony show in Carlsbad.

With a packed house and the stage bursting with ringing chords, great music, and wonderful friends, it was one of those days that reminded us exactly why we fell in love with this incredible art form in the first place. 💙

The afternoon also marked a moment we've been eagerly awaiting: the local debut of our Musical Director, Dan Wessler, with the San Diego Chorus! We couldn't have asked for a warmer welcome or a more joyful way to introduce our new musical leader to our hometown community.

And since TODAY just happens to be his birthday... 🎂🎉 Happy Birthday, Dr. Dan! We're awfully glad this year brought you to our chorus!

The best part? We get to do it again!

We're thrilled to have Pacific Coast Harmony join us on September 27 for our annual show, With a Little Help from Our Friends. We'll share the contest set we'll perform on the International stage this fall, and celebrate some of our favorite friends in harmony, including special guests Uproar, Solo Voce, and Ready, Willing, & Mabel for one very special afternoon. 🎶✨
